RIP Mateus Song

Dear Aidan,

Today was our friend's, Anina and Young's, funeral for their baby Mateus. I know I briefly mentioned this in my previous post, but I didn't really update on what had happened. So basically she went in the hospital this Tuesday and she got induced. She basically had to give birth to her baby. Usually when the baby is preterm the nurses will put the baby in the incubator and give the baby IV fluid. However, in this case they didn't do anything. So the baby just... died. I know it sounds cruel to let the baby die, but the baby would have been seriously sick if it had gone full term and they went ahead with the birth.

Our church small group went to the funeral to support the Song's. You and daddy stayed home. We thought it would be the best not to have you there. It was a very sombre environment. The shocking thing was at the viewing it was an open-casket viewing. I was too scared to look at the baby because I was too sad. The baby was so small. So small... His features hadn't had time to develop yet and he looked like a shriveled baby. I couldn't stop crying for the baby and for Anina and Young. I mean, how could such a joyous time turn into such a devastating time so quickly??? These are things I can't understand and I really just need to trust that God will bless Young and Anina in due time.

RIP Mateus. September 29, 2010.
