From chaos to sanity

It feels great to have our house back. It was extremely hard dealing with all the mess and the dust. Also, I hated not being able to cook. I had to go get left-overs from your Toronto grandma's house almost every single night. Either that or takeout. I didn't show you how our basement looked before so I'll show you how it looked before the reno. Different, right?

You seem to love the basement. At first you were a little confused because we moved all your toys downstairs, but I think you'll be fine. Here you are playing. I couldn't resist snapping a photo of you showing off your belly. Aigoo aigoo…

New playroom

Daddy moved all your toys down to the basement today as it was the Victoria Day long weekend and both of us didn't have to work. We brought you down while we were organizing some stuff and you were loving the new basement space. We still have to figure out if we like the placement of everything. I've got to say that having so much of your toys is making the space look less nice. We may have to bring a few of your toys back upstairs. In the meantime here's a sneak peek at your new playroom space.

I'm thinking of moving your Thomas the train set back upstairs because the space is feeling very cluttered.

The reason why we finished the basement was for you and Kendall, but both daddy and I still like having a beautiful,
uncluttered space and I'm feeling like it's looking very cluttered and busy at the moment.

Pregnancy scare

I was still spotting when I awoke this morning. I was pretty scared that the bleeding didn't stop so I knew I definitely had to go to the hospital. Yesterday, I actually called my hospital and they told me to come in to get myself checked out, but seeing that we had just finished our basement renos we had so much to do that I didn't end up going to the hospital. Daddy couldn't go with me because of you because who knows how long the checkup was going to take. On my way to the hospital I called Auntie Jess to tell her what was going on and she was sweet enough to meet me at the hospital to make sure I was ok. The closer I got to the hospital I started panicking. I had these dark thoughts in my head that something was terribly wrong because I didn't go get myself checked out the day before.

When I finally got to triage the nurse scolded me for not coming in and told me any bleeding was an emergency situation. Oh boy. Luckily the doctor did an ultrasound and baby Kendall was moving and had a healthy heartbeat. Phew! Next time this happens I'm definitely not going to take a chance. I think the bleeding was caused by exertion from all the cleaning I did from the basement renos. Now it's up to daddy to take the reigns and make sure mommy is well rested and taken care of before the due date.

Saturday errands

The contractors finished the basement renovations early! They were supposed to finish on the 23rd, but they finished today. Woohoo!
While the contractors were working on the finishing touches today we stepped out to do a few errands- exchange 2 ceiling lights that were broken, buy a dehumidifier and check out a TV mount for our future TV in the basement. While we were at Best Buy we happened to be looking at some TV's and I noticed a few models had a camera that showed you and I on the screen. I pointed it out to you and that's why you are laughing in the photo above. You love seeing yourself on TV/camera.

Do you see us? This would be a great TV to have in the future for using Skype with your Vancouver grandparents.

Aidan zoomed in. Look how happy you are. Aigoo aigoo.

Buying lights- Day 11 of basement renos

We are in full basement reno mode. We are now at day 11 and our house is a mess!
We checked out a lighting store near us- Prima Lighting to buy lights for the bathroom. We needed to get a fixture for above the mirror and then we got 2 sconces for when you first enter the basement. We ended up getting the 3-light fixture shown below. Daddy brought his measuring tape to make sure the width was good in relation to the vanity. Once you saw daddy measuring stuff you immediately started mimicking him by measuring the light fixtures yourself. How cute!

I can't wait until the basement is finished so our life can go back to normal.
