Her first Tiffany's

Today was a special day. We wanted to treat our mom to a day of shopping and dinner to celebrate her birthday. It's been a rough year for all of us, especially for her. We met our mom and Auntie Sara at Yorkdale this afternoon and browsed at a few stores before we headed for dinner at Seoul House. It's been so long since we had a day of shopping together. With our dad being sick and Auntie Jess and I taking care of kids, it was really hard to make time to do something fun for us. Although I did have to take you with me, you were really good (besides eating like a pig!).

Us sisters pitched in to get our mom her first Tiffany's piece. You can see from your grandma's face that
she was so excited and happy. Just seeing that expression made it all worth it :-)

Isn't the necklace beautiful? It's the mini double heart tag pendant. She absolutely loved it!

Your outfit of the night. You looked like an angel from above today.

Life of a mom

If you are a mom, then you will know that nap time is king. You basically have to arrange your day around it. Also, if you're like me where your toddler is no longer taking daily naps, but when they do, you basically honour that time.

I usually take you out first thing after I drop Aidan off at school because that's when you're in the best mood- you're fed and you're not cranky. Today, I took you to the park because the weather was nice and then we went to Michael's to pick up a few craft items for a scrapbook project that I'm working on for missionaries- Bryan and Christina. Since Michael's is close to Auntie Jessica's house, we stopped by for a play date. By the time we left Auntie Jess' house, it was time to pick up Aidan from school. Lo and behold, you fell asleep on the way home. I had to chill out in the car for a good 15-20 minutes in order for me to let you sleep a little longer.

And look how happy you are after your nap. That makes it all worth it!

They can make a whole Disney franchise with this girl

I instagrammed this photo of you and my friend Lisa commented that Disney can make a whole franchise with you. And I have to say, I agree! Look at that face. Look at the hair! I die!!!

Since I spent all day with Aidan yesterday, I wanted to have a mommy and Kendall day today. We went to Target in the morning to check out the Poppytalk for Target Collection as well as to buy a welcome mat for our house. Let me just say that you are a handful nowadays! You don't want to sit still and when I let you loose, you are everywhere.

As you can see, you are already trying to get out of the buggy. You actually stood up several times. Sigh…

What a cutie pie you are though…

I eventually put you in cart and you were touching everything that was in it.

A quick video of you touching everything at Target.

And this is the welcome mat that I bought for our house. Isn't it pretty?

And here's how it looks from afar.

Garden season is here

We had an unusually long winter this year so gardening had to wait until the weather got warm enough. I always look forward to Spring/Summer because I love having beautiful flowers in our backyard. It's so nice having a view of our colourful garden from the kitchen. The photo above is our new planter flowers. Isn't it pretty?

So many flowers ready to be planted.

And these are our picks this year.

Fashion show

After church this morning, you and I stopped by our local mall to exchange your broken recycling truck at Toys R Us. While we were at the mall, I decided to get Kendall velcro shoes for daycare as she has been needing one badly for a while. Of course, you wanted your own pair of shoes. I told you that you already had a brand new pair, that we had gotten for you last year to wear this Summer, in your closet, but you were so whiny that I told you I would buy you something else at the mall. Something you actually needed. We stopped by Old Navy and I bought you a t-shirt and sunglasses.

When we went home, I put Kendall in her new shoes to see if it fit her and it became a fashion show. You started pulling clothes from out of your dresser and closet and made me take pictures of you modelling it for me. What a guy!

Kendall's new Dora velcro shoes. It was a steal at $14.99 at Payless! It was on sale from $24.99.

You absolutely loved it. You were walking around the whole house showing it off.

Your new Angry Bird t-shirt and sunglasses. I'm glad I got you those sunglasses. The one I got you last
year was too big for your face. This one fits perfectly! And you're wearing your the shoes that I was talking
about earlier.

Kendall showing off her new kicks.

She's been so cute lately. I just want to bite her everywhere!

Posing for the cameras.

Kendall testing out her new shoes.

You made me put a tie and fedora hat on you to complete your outfit.

Trying to do the rock on hands.

This girl makes me melt with her cuteness.

Here's another one for the camera.

I don't know what you're doing with your eyes, but you look so wacky! Especially with your missing teeth.

Outfit change. Wearing your summer outfit ensemble.

Problem solver

We have a tradition of borrowing library books every 2 weeks. It's a good tradition, but we tend to borrow at least 10 books at a time when we go to the library. Having all those books stacked on top of your dresser was becoming quite an eye sore. It also didn't help that you are a little bit of a hoarder and you tend to bring scraps of paper from school/daycare and you have it strewn about. Then you sometimes bring your toys from from the basement- whatever is the flavour du jour. What I'm saying, is that the top of your dresser was just too cluttered with crap. I've been thinking about it for a while now and I decided that a basket would be a good solution. It would keep all the books together, while keeping them hidden. And the basket would be a nice decor accent in your room. I told daddy about and he said if I saw something I liked, then I should just get it.

I happened to go to the mall today to buy Auntie Sara her birthday present and I stopped by one of my favourite decor places while I was there- Chapters Indigo. I had seen their woven baskets a few months back and I had it in the back of my head. Now that I knew we needed a basket, I wanted to check them out more closely. They had several different styles of baskets, but I settled in the one below. It was bigger and had a bit of weight to it. There was a smaller basket that I initially thought I was going to buy, but once I put some books in it, it started tipping over from the weight of the books. I'm happy with the one I got. Plus, I used some of my points so I got it for just over $20. Score!

For now, I have the basket beside your dresser. It's a beautifully woven basket. I would like
to get more for other spaces in our house.

I only have 3 books in here, but it can fit a whole lot more.

Beautiful find

I'm always on the lookout for stuff for the house. I don't always want to rush to buy something just because I have to. I have to really love it.
One thing that I have been looking for a long time was a display of some sort for your jewelry. You got a few gold rings and a gold bracelet as gifts for your 1 year birthday so I wanted to put them in a nice display case. Initially, I was looking for a clear acrylic box like how I had displayed Aidan's gold rings, but I found something even better. I happened to check out Anthropologie during my lunch break because I knew that lots of stores were having their end-of-season sales. I had been eyeing their jewelry boxes for a long time, but they were so pricey. I was hoping that I could get one on sale. That is, if they even had any left. I found exactly the one that I had been eyeing and it was on sale! It's a beautiful cream-coloured jewelry box with sequins and beading.

And here it is opened with your 2 rings and bracelet inside. I'm hoping to add to that collection.

It's gone…

The pediatric dentist couldn't save your teeth…
I was a nervous wreck all morning because I knew there was little hope in saving your teeth. I know they are baby teeth and that your permanent teeth will eventually grow out, but what upsets me is that you won't be getting your permanent teeth for 3 years! People used to always say how handsome you are, but I feel it's all ruined now! Maybe I'm being punished for thinking so highly of your looks… Your picture day at school will now capture you with missing teeth and that's something you can't ever get back.

I took a video this morning of you showing me your damaged teeth :-(

We went to your pediatric dentist at 1:30pm and there was another girl getting her teeth pulled out. I think hers was due to rotten teeth because she ate too much candy, but I felt a little reassured that kids are kids and these things happen.

Your dentist was super nice and she was so sympathetic to me. I even started crying at one point while talking to her, but she just listened and assured me that everything was going to be okay. When she examined you, she told me that the best was to remove your 2 front teeth. She said leaving it would cause infections. She asked me how you were with needles because she needed to freeze your gums, and I told her you were pretty good about it. And you were good! You flinched a little near the end, but all in all you were good. She said the pulling of the teeth was going to be uncomfortable for you because of the pressure so she told me to hold you down so you couldn't move. That was just painful to do. Yes, your gums were numb, but you still screamed a blood curdling scream because of the pressure. I just started tearing up again because you lost those beautiful teeth.

I decided to take you to the mall afterwards to get you a pair of really nice boots (with good grip) because I felt partly at fault for not noticing that your boots had worn out. On the way to the mall, I got a call from one of your daycare teachers asking how you were doing. I had calmed down a lot from the day before so I was really appreciative that she called me to check up on you. She told me that she couldn't sleep because she was so beside herself for what had happened. That really made me feel better. I told her it wasn't her fault and that it was just an unfortunate accident.

At the mall, you kept checking your reflection on the mirror because I think you found it funny that you looked a little different with no front teeth. I felt so badly every time I saw you that I bought you a graphic shirt (Toy Story) and an Avengers lunch box. I even treated  you to vanilla ice cream- your favourite!

I had taken a few vacation days off leading up to the holidays where I had planned on getting my hair done and meeting friends, but now I'm not so sure. I don't feel comfortable putting you back in daycare after your accident. I'm still on edge. I think I will have to cancel all my plans and just have you at home until you heal.

You in the dentist chair before your teeth extraction. You were watching Toy Story.
And here are your tooth saver treasure chests that your dentist put your teeth in. They told
me to put it under your pillow for the tooth fairy, but knowing you, you'll probably want to keep
the teeth so I decided not to show you your teeth.

The 2 perfect teeth that sadly fell off…

Getting ready for kindergarten

Mommy's been running around like a headless chicken getting you ready for kindergarten. I had to get a whole bunch of school supplies (see above) that you have bring to school as well as get the whole daycare transition in order. Yesterday I went shopping at Walmart to shop for lunch stuff that I have to start packing for you. My boy is all grown up!

I went out earlier today to pick up an extra epipen for you (your new daycare needs 1 and your
school needs 2!). While I was out I guess you were not behaving. Daddy was so angry and
you were a crying mess. I took this photo of you after I calmed you down and put you
down for nap time. Yes, you can be a total nightmare when you are bad, but when you sleeping
like this it makes my heart hurt that we were angry with you. I know daddy feels the same way.
Please behave, my little monster!
