Graduation party

One of your classmates, Emily, invited the whole class for a graduation party at her house. Even your teacher, Ms Stamkos was able to make it. We presented her with a gift and flowers. I'm going to miss the class of 110.

Look how you're linking arms with your best friends- Avishai and Mateo. So sweet!

Aidan graduation

As I'm writing this, I'm filled with so many conflicted emotions- happiness, sadness and pride. It seems like yesterday that you came out of my womb and now, my baby is graduation from Senior Kindergarten… Where did the time go? I am so thankful for God that he gave me this year to be there for my dad and also for you and Kendall. How amazing is it that He restores all things? Praise be to God. I am so honoured that I got to share in this special moment with you. I love you!

The morning before I dropped you off at school. Don't you look handsome?
You and Kendall.
Kendall wanted a solo shot.

The gymnasium was packed with parents. Daddy couldn't be here because he had to work, but I wish now
that he had taken it off. It was such a special day that I never want to forget.

The graduation procession. You totally ignored me!

All the Senior Kindergarteners from your school that were graduating this year.
Singing O Canada.

Each of the classes had a performance that they did. This was your class's performance.

My handsome boy.

You made a self portrait of yourself.

Your favourite memory of Kindergarten.

Getting ready to accept your diploma.

You did it! You graduated Kindergarten! That is your teacher- Ms Stamkos and Ms Silverberg.
The graduation slideshow of your class- Room 110.

You and your best friend at school- Mateo.

Another good friend of yours- Avishai.

You also love these girls- Amayah and Cailyn.

Here you are holding Cailyn's hand. What a guy!
You and mommy. I am so proud of you!

My little graduate. You are wearing daddy's white shirt backwards!

I love you because…

I love getting Mother's Day cards from you every year. Every year it gets better because you're able to express more of why you love me. Thank you Aidan!

You also planted a seed for me at school and presented me with the little sprout.

Brown E

You said you made me a brownie for me at school when I picked you up from school today. Then you pulled out a brown 'E' from your backpack. I was confused at first, but then you said, "Get it mom? Brown "E", brownie? April Fools! Haha!"

I was not impressed…

Becoming quite the reader

It's truly amazing to see you grow up before my eyes. I still vividly remember you as a baby so it just blows my mind that you are now reading. Ever since you started Kindergarten, you have really expanded your vocabulary and your writing and drawing skills are amazing.

Your teacher lets students who show exceptional reading skills to borrow from her own personal collection of books. I guess you are doing well, because you always come home with a new book in your backpack.

And they're here!

Today you got your proofs back for the pictures you took on your school picture day. You always squint your eyes when you're smiling :-S
But I think this was better than how your daycare pictures turned out. See here.

It's amazing how quickly you are learning at junior Kindergarten even though you are only part time. I put stickers on all the words you know so far.

We've been reading every night to get you comfortable with words.

First day of hip hop dance class

Knowing how much you love to dance and perform, I couldn't resist signing you up for hip hop dance class. Daddy wasn't too keen as he would rather have you in hockey, soccer or any other sports activities. However, it is apparent to me that you don't really have a penchant for sports and you seem to lean more towards the arts field.

The first class was good. I know you are always a little weary when it comes to new environments, but you didn't cry and you actually went into the class without a hitch. I thought that parents would be allowed in to observe, but we weren't. I guess it's a good thing because sometimes parents can be a distraction…

Now that you have started Kindergarten, I am teaching you new words. Your teacher has put together a communications folder in your backpack and it has a few beginner words for you to learn. Already you have learned quite a few. It's great because now I'm making you read these words while we read our bedtime stories together at night.

Some of the words that you know. I used an invisible marker that I got you to colour to
reveal the secret words. You loved that.

Preparing for kindergarten

Last night I went to your kindergarten orientation session at your new school that you start in September. It was very informative and I got to meet some of your new teachers. They also talked about how we, as parents, can prepare our kids for kindergarten. They gave each parent a bag with alphabet magnets, scissors, glue, books, crayons and other activity things that we should work with our child.

This morning you noticed the bag and wanted to open it. I took you downstairs and got you to work on a few activities that the teachers had suggested- cutting straight lines on the edge of a paper with the scissors; using a cookie sheet and placing the alphabet paper and getting you to match the alphabet magnets to the letters (BTW, you already knew the uppercase letters and lowercase letters long time ago); matching up numbers in the same way as the letters exercise; and building letters with shapes.

So happy with his completed work.

Kendall, meanwhile, is practicing learning to use her pincer fingers to put Cheerios in her mouth.

She's finally starting to get it.
