How can I leave you??

Even though this is mommy's second time putting my child in daycare, does it make it any easier? No… In fact, I think I'm more depressed this time. Maybe it's because you're a girl; or maybe it's the fact that both you and Aidan start full-time daycare next Monday; or maybe it's because you might be mommy and daddy's last child and it really puts things in reality that my kids are growing up… Whatever it is, I'm sad. I think I will be the next couple of months. Today, I took you to your daycare that you are starting next Monday for a test run. I was there with you since it's the daycare's policy for the parent to be there until their official start. I was there from 11am-12:30pm during the lunch time slot so that I could make sure you eat the food that they serve you. All in all, I think it was a pleasant experience and you won't have any trouble transitioning. You are much different from your brother, I think. I remember how sad he was and how much he cried. You seemed to enjoy playing with all the toys there. Who knows, maybe you'll be more clingy once you realize that we are dropping you off alone

Your daycare teachers will be Aidan's old daycare teachers when he was in this infant class.
So I feel a little better knowing that they were such awesome teachers.
Today, they served you macaroni and cheese and steamed vegetables. You also had a side plate
of bananas. Normally you would eat everything, but maybe you were uncomfortable
in your new setting because you just spit out all the food. Fail.

You had a great time playing with all the new toys and exploring the class.

Look how happy you are.

You were putting everything that you could grab into your mouth.

You loved being in this little area.

Again, everything in your mouth.

The girl beside you is only 10 months old. I can't believe how young some of these babies are.
Apparently there was also a 3-month old.

You were putting your finger in this little girl's mouth. You were doing it for fun, but I'm just afraid
that next time the girl will bite you. I mean, you are asking for it!
I'm planning on going back tomorrow again to make sure you're comfortable with your new surroundings. I explained to them how you still have a hard time drinking milk off a bottle and a sippy cup. They said it was okay.

Victoria Day fireworks

We've been to Canada's Wonderland a few times now and every time I go I see a Victoria Day fireworks poster. You have yet to see your first fireworks so I thought that it would be a good idea to take you this year. The only downside to it was that it was going to start at 10pm and your bedtime is at 8pm. Plus, the children's side of the park closes at 9pm so even if we go you won't be able to ride anything until the 10pm start time. Nevertheless I still wanted to take you. Daddy, being the boring guy that he is, thought that I was crazy for wanting to take you. Yes, it's inconvenient and a hassle, but that's what makes life fun. The best memory I have growing up are the spontaneous things that my parents did. I remember them taking all 3 of us to Ontario Place when we were young to see fireworks and I remember how fun that was. Yes, it was way after our bedtime, but the fact that I still remember it is saying something. Daddy doesn't have any childhood memories so I'm hoping that you will remember your childhood and think that you had a positive upbringing :-)

This says it all- look how happy and excited you are. You actually thought that the rollercoaster
was the fireworks. You didn't know what to expect so you just assumed the lights on the rollercoaster
was the fireworks. I had to show you google images of what real fireworks looked like so you
understood.

We got to the part at 9pm, but it was already packed. We sat in front of the mountains.
We were glad that Auntie Jess, Uncle Wayne and Emma were at the park. We got to watch the
fireworks with them.

Aidan and mommy.

Emma, all bundled up. It was waaaaaaaay past her bedtime too :-(

Auntie Jessica had funnel cake! Mmmmmm.

Crazy eyes.
Actually, you were patiently waiting for the fireworks to start. Since you know how to tell time now
you were waiting for the clock to turn to 10pm.

Tired, but happy to be here.

Look at your face seeing the fireworks!

It was a special time and I'm so glad we went.

We actually had a nightmare of a time getting out of the parking lot because everyone was leaving at the same time. It took almost an hour to get out and I ended up getting a nail in my tire. We got home close to midnight :-S
Even with all the chaos at the end I wouldn't change the experience for the world!
