Peekaboo!

There's so many differences between you and Aidan. Aidan was never as playful as you when he was around your age. You always laugh (sounds like a loud sucking-in air sound. Daddy calls it the 'bird call') and you're very playful. During dinner, while we were doing Skype with your Vancouver grandparents, you kept putting your shirt over your face and then lowering it. I assumed you wanted to play peekaboo so I kept saying, "Peekaboo!" as soon as you lowered your shirt. You were laughing so much every time I did that. Aidan then wanted to get in on the action so he started doing peekaboo on you.

Aidan doing peekaboo on you.
Luckily I was able to capture a video of you during dinner.

I got another video of you playing peekaboo with me while Aidan doing bath time with daddy.

All about Kendall

I feel like all I've been doing is blogging about the Advent Calendar. Since you are too young to do it I feel like I have to dedicate a full post just on you since Aidan's been getting all the attention. Since Aidan went to daycare today it was just you and mommy during the day. I usually wake up early (either 6:20am or 6:40am) to get Aidan ready for daycare. You have been sleeping through the night ever since you turned 3 months so it's been so great. I put you to bed around 8:00pm and you don't wake up until well after 10:00am. I'm so lucky…
When I get Aidan out the door I pump some breast milk since I'm pretty engorged. I'm wide awake by then so I surf the internet on my phone until I eventually fall asleep until 9:30am-10:30am. That's when I feed you and get ready for the day. I mentioned earlier that you've been flipping nonstop. It's made things a bit more difficult. Since you don't know how to flip back to your back, you get really frustrated and start crying. I'm afraid that you'll get tired and put your head down and suffocate yourself so I'm constantly watching you. I can't just leave you in the crib anymore. I had to put you on the Bumbo in the washroom while I quickly showered. I think you flipped over 20 times when I put you in your crib for a nap and even in the play pen. Again, I have to watch you when I put you down. Eventually you get tired from all the flipping/crying that you fall asleep.

I swear, I put you down for 1 second and you are on your belly. You are super fast!
You usually poo 2 times a day now so when you pooped in the morning I gave you a bath. I couldn't resist taking pictures of you while you were doing bath time. You are just too cute to be true!

I know I keep saying this, but you are just one happy baby. Daddy and I constantly talk
about how you laugh way more than your brother when he was at this stage.
I can just look at you and you will break out into a full-on smile.
You have the softest skin too. Much softer than Aidan.

But one thing that you share with your brother is your love of the water. You never once cried
while we gave you a bath.

I had to do a few errands today, but before we went out you fell asleep in your crib.
You're wearing what your Toronto grandparents bought you from Korea. I love this because
I can put this over your regular clothes and it's not too bulky when I have you in the Bjorn.

Excuse the hair. Your hair is a crazy mess right now. I'm tempted to shave it all off, but I'm
also wanting your hair to grow as fast as possible so that you look more like a girl…

Roly Poly…

We give you baths every other day because the doctor told us that bathing you every day might dry your skin out. Since daddy is exhausted after he comes home from work I've started giving you baths during the daytime so that he doesn't have to help me do it when he comes home at night. That frees up his time so that he can play with you even longer :-)
Today when I stripped you down for a bath I had you standing on the bathroom vanity. You started smiling at your reflection and I couldn't help but laugh at all your rolls. You melt my heart because you are so good natured and you smile every time you see me.

I love all your rolls!

I think you are the cutest when I wrap you up in your towel and you look like a little monkey.
How cute is that??

Chill day

Yesterday took a toll on our family so today- Labour Day- we decided to take it easy and just chill at home. We all slept in and just hung around the house. I took some photos of Kendall after her bath because she looked so cute in her little monkey towel.

Since it is now September, Aidan will be going to daycare 3 days a week and staying home on Mondays and Fridays. It will be quite busy for mommy from now on…

Bath day

Unlike Aidan we give you a bath every 2 days. The nurse told us to not give you a bath every day as it could dry your skin out. You have grown nicely these past few days. You are now 6lbs 9oz- almost a whole pound heavier. I'm starting to see some meat to your bones ;-)

Just like Aidan you love the water. You don't cry at all.

A look of concern. Your head is so wobbly that we have to be extra careful when you're taking a bath.
Plus, being a lot smaller than Aidan you seem to sink into the water much quicker.

All wrapped up after a bath. Look how tiny you are bundled in your bath towel.

Don't you feel MUCH cleaner?

Family of 5 (that includes Rosco)

I can't believe I'm a mother of 2 now. It's quite surreal. Kendall is just a beautiful delight and I have a different kind of love for her. The labour went so well. I didn't tear at all and I felt pretty good the next day. We moved into the new postpartum floor (17th floor) in room 321. It was so nice! We were able to get a private room so that made it quite comfortable.

My spacious private room. Kendall slept most of the day. It was so nice because I was able to get some Zzz's.

Another view of the room.

They put the wrong birthday on Kendall's crib card- August 21 instead of July 21.

Kendall got her first bath at 2am with the night nurse Sylvia. She loved it.
We got a visit from my aunt and my cousin Jenn. Jenn took lots of cute pictures of Kendall.

What a cute face Kendall is making.

We were discharged at 2:30pm because Kendall's blood work came out all positive. This is our car ride home.

Look at you looking at baby Kendall. You kept wanting to caress her. You are so good to her.

Gross, but exciting!

You had your first poop in the potty today. Daddy sent me this picture while mommy was riding the bus home. Apparently you dropped the bomb while daddy had you sitting on the potty while he was getting the bath water ready (for your bath time). Daddy said it was rock hard and totally gross. However, I'm sooooo proud of you!

Terrible 2

Wow. You are at the terrible 2 stage.
Right now daddy is desperately trying to put you to bed, but you are having none of it. I'm just not impressed with your behaviour. You throw so many tantrums that I'm really starting to dread hanging out with you.
Just today you threw a tantrum at the waiting area at your doctor's office. I gave you a container of Cheerios to munch on while we waited, but as soon as I tried to put it away you fell to the floor and started shrieking/crying hysterically. Everyone waiting there was trying to be polite by pretending not to notice, but it was hard not to. I just hope that this is a phase and it will pass. I do pray that you will be in your best behaviour on Friday when we board a plane to Vancouver. I'm just stressed thinking about it. Ugh. The good news is that you are over your ear infection. The 2nd dosage of antibiotics did the trick. However, the doctor said your throat was a bit swollen. They took a swab to test if you have strep throat. I hope it isn't that. I can't deal with another sickness.

You may ask why your face is so red in the above photo. I gave you a bath right after you ate pasta and it was all over your face. That's why your face is so red. You get really sensitive every time food is on your face.

Another eating thread

Dear Aidan,

Mommy worked from home today because there was supposed to be a huge storm in Southern Ontario. However, it didn't turn out to be as bad as I had expected. I think it was supposed to snow up to 30cm, but it was more like 20cm. Daddy thinks it might have been even 10cm. I don't know about that...

Anyways, it was good to have you home because I hate coming home from work so late. I think you also enjoyed being at home too. Daddy was telling me that ever since you transitioned into the toddler room you have been crying a lot when you get dropped off and picked up. Poor Aidan!

You were able to sleep in today and you woke up close to 9am! Mommy still had to work, but I took occasional breaks to play with you. We even took a long bath together in the afternoon. It was so nice! However, I think all the playing together tired you out because you were so cranky by 6pm. You cried for an hour straight and by the time daddy came home you were just in a foul mood. Too bad since the day started out so good...

You had 2 solid meals today. Beef ravioli (pictured here) and bread with strawberry jam. You made quite a mess as you can see.

Around 6pm we did your usual Skype time with your Vancouver grandparents. You entertained them by pretending to talk on the phone.

Well, tomorrow mommy goes back to work and you to daycare. It was good while it lasted. Hopefully I can work from home again on Friday...

All I want for Christmas is... a naked Aidan!

Dear Aidan,

I love when after we take off your clothes for a bath we let you loose to run around naked. It's so cute! Once, daddy did that and you started peeing everywhere so he doesn't like letting you run around for too long.

You are known as the butt scratcher because as soon as we take off your diapers you start scratching your butt like crazy!
Compare yourself to back in July.

BTW, I included more blurry pictures of you because I don't think you want your private parts to be seen by everyone on the internet...

Anyways, Merry Christmas! We had a pretty low-key day today as we didn't go out. Your Toronto grandparents left for their California vacation yesterday night so we didn't do a family get-together this year. I am, however, hosting a New Years Day dinner party at our house next Saturday with everyone so that should be exciting.

I leave you with a video of you playing with daddy on the floor today.
