Happy 2nd Halloween

Dear Aidan,

Oh what a night! Our neighbourhood is so family friendly so when we decided to give out candy this year we knew it was going to be a rough night. It didn't help that a house close by does a huge elaborate haunted house every year. All the neighbourhood kids congregate near our area just to see this house. Daddy and I got 5 big packs of candy at Walmart last week, but we ran out of it within an hour and a half. Daddy was so stressed out because while he was giving out the candy all the kids were stepping over our grass (that we laid out in the fall) and the shrubs that your Vancouver grandpa planted in the summertime. Plus, he was worried that our newly installed iron railings were going to get damaged just by the huge amount of traffic our house was getting. Actually one kids stepped on one shrub so it's a little damaged now.

Our friends, Jenn and Ed came over with their baby Nate and we (minus daddy) went out to check out the haunted house. It was AMAZING. Mommy was screaming so loud that it scared you and Nate. The haunted house had zombies that were actual people people dressed up as zombies and they kept jumping out at me and scaring the daylights out of me. I'm not sure if you can handle that when you are a little older. It might scare you silly. I think your tiger headpiece was covering your eyes so you didn't really see how scary it was.

Daddy, you, and Rosco posing for the camera.

Your trick or treat bag looks so much bigger than you.

Daddy got you to laugh for the camera before we headed out.

You were so annoyed with your head piece because it kept covering your eyes.

You looked so cute in your costume.

You and daddy posing in front of the haunted house. We went there at 5pm so that we could take pictures before it got dark and busy.

You were more interested in looking at the cars go by than look at all the tombstones and zombies buried in the ground.

Look how scary some of the zombies are.

Even at 5pm it was busy with people milling about. Look at the zombie crossing sign. So clever...

Finally, something caught your eye.

Could it be all the zombies popping out from the ground?

Boo!

They were donating all the proceeds to Sick Kids Hospital. Besides the haunted house, this house is known for their beautiful landscaping. Look at the outdoor urn arrangement in the background. Gorgeous...

Look at the goblin.

Mommy and Aidan.

Aidan and mommy admiring the decoration.

Back in daddy's arms.

Look at the zombie bride.

You were getting pretty tired and cold by this time.

Aidan, do you see the scary man behind you?

Back at our house. You can sort of see the iron railings that we put in yesterday.

Smile for the camera Aidan.

You in your full gear standing up. I love those booties.

Freedom!

You saw your reflection in the mirror. You love looking at yourself.

We took your head piece off. You were so happy.

One thing you loved to do was watch daddy give out candies to the trick or treaters. You were just hanging by the door watching.

Guess who's here? Jenn and baby Nathan.

Nate as a monkey.

Ed, Nate, and Jenn. Such a happy family.

We checked out the haunted house when it turned dark and I must say it was exceptional and very scary. Kudos to the family that set this up. See you next year!

Hello, who's there?

Dear Aidan,

We were on lock-down today because the iron railing guys came to install the iron railings we had ordered last month. It turned out beautifully, but we had to stay home until they were done so that we could pay them. We thought that they wouldn't take too long, but it ended up taking 6 hours! They did a great job, however, so I can't complain. Because we were home most of the day we wanted to go out for dinner to just get out of the house. We went for Mexican at a place not too far from us. If you know me, you'll know that I loooooooove Mexican food.

While we were waiting for our food you were getting pretty restless so daddy gave you your toy cellphone to play with. You were playing with it for a while, but then you got bored and started whining. I grabbed the phone from you and pretended to talk to someone on the phone. I didn't think that you would mimic me, but as soon as I handed it back to you you put the phone to your ears and actually blabbered. Luckily daddy was able to capture you doing that on his iPhone camera. I guess we have to watch what we do around you now because you are starting to mimic everything that we do. We are trying to teach you how to dance for more than 5 seconds when we turn on music. I feel like every night it's a dance party in the Kim household.

Aidan, the construction worker

Dear Aidan,

You got another addition to your growing toy collection- a construction truck! It was courtesy of your Toronto grandparents. It came with a mini version of the same truck. The larger truck could seat you and you can actually ride it. I think you're still too young to push yourself while riding the truck, but you just loved playing with it anyways. You rode it while we pushed the truck for you and you loved filling the back of the truck with mega blocks.

You look stunned here. It's because you were pretty tired and it was nearly your bedtime. Do you like the double-bib? Sometimes we triple it. It's because you drool so much. I noticed that your molars grew in so I think that's why you've been drooling like crazy.

Look at you riding the truck. Weeeeeeee!

You filling the truck with your blocks.

A peek at your daycare

Dear Aidan,

Even though mommy took most of this week off it's still been a busy week. I had to do so many errands and things I couldn't do because of work. I still dropped you off at daycare, but I dropped you off a lot later than your 7:00am normal drop-off time. Today you had the luxury of waking up at 9:00am. That's quite a lot later than the usual 6:30am wake-up time. I usually have to wake you up at 6:30am, but today I let you wake up on your own. You looked so well-rested because you woke up cooing and babbling.

When I dropped you off at daycare you were the last toddler to be dropped-off. You are usually the first toddler to be dropped off... You were in such a good mood that you started playing right away when I put you down. Sometimes you cry when I put you down, but you were smiling at me and going to different areas to play with different things. Your daycare teachers kept raving how good you were and if they could have a baby like you they would. I'm sure they are exaggerating somewhat, but it felt good to know that you are a good baby. Aigoo aigoo...

BTW, the kid in the 2nd photo was just lying down on the ground talking to himself. You, at one point, went over to where he was, sat on the foam ledge beside him, and you kind of nudged him in the stomach with your foot! You did it very gently I think to make him stand up. But you had a pure rascal-ish look on your face when you did that! Maybe you aren't such a good baby afterall...

Alpha-Aidan

Dear Aidan,

One thing that you absolutely love is bath time. You especially enjoy it now because it involves getting into the adult bathtub with daddy and playing with all your bath toys. You really love these foam bath letters that a friend got for you on your 1-year birthday party. Daddy thought it would be fun to stick all the letters on you to make you a human alphaghetti. Keke. He even spelt out 'No' on your back. The funny thing is the letters were stuck on you until we pulled it off.

Learning to climb

Dear Aidan,

You've been constantly trying to climb stuff lately. Whether it's the couch, the bathtub, the step stool, or your jumper I guess it's your playful side coming out. Today you saw Rosco on the couch and you decided that you wanted to climb the couch to pet him. He wasn't very impressed. Daddy had to help you up so that you wouldn't fall down.

Spotted! Rosco on the couch. Aidan: Must get Rosco. Must pet Rosco.

Aidan trying with all his might to push his chubby body onto the couch.

With a little push from behind from daddy Aidan was able to succeed!

Oh no! Where did Rosco go?

Spotted! Daddy's glasses! Aidan: Must get daddy's glasses.

Aidan: Must put daddy's glasses in mouth.
