The big 2

Tomorrow is your birthday.

I've been frantically trying to prepare for your birthday- making loot bags for your classmates at daycare and planning your birthday party for this Friday while working really long hours at work. I felt extremely guilty today because I came home about an hour ago and I didn't even get to see you before you went to bed :-(

Tomorrow, I will definitely leave work on time so that I can be home for your special day.

Today both mommy and daddy rushed out to get your gift at lunch. I got you a Cookie Monster and Elmo doll. You are OBSESSED with both and I knew that this would be the perfect gift for you. Daddy took a cab to a store that carries a particular brand of balance bikes which are all the craze right now. It's actually your Toronto grandparents' gift, but they told us to pick what we wanted and they would give us the money for it. They know how picky we are about selecting stuff for you.

Already, you've started receiving gifts before your birthday. You are one lucky boy.

This is your Vancouver grandparents' and Auntie Jane's gift for you. Isn't it such a cool slide? You love going down the slide.

This is from our friends, Jenn, Ed, and their son Nate. I was telling Jenn how much you love Elmo and Cookie Monster and they got you an Elmo lunch box and a Cookie Monster card! The lunch box was stuffed with this Jacadi polo shirt. Jacadi is a very expensive, French children's brand. I'm so thankful to have such wonderful friends like them.

This is the Kinderbike from your Toronto grandparents. It's a pedal-less bike. Apparently it's supposed to teach toddlers how to balance themselves (because of the pedal-less features) and it allows toddlers to transition to a normal bike sooner.

See a video of other toddlers riding a Kinderbike:

You got a whole bunch of clothes from your Vancouver grandparents today. It was from their trip to Yellowstone a couple of weeks ago, but I guess it can count as part of your birthday gift, no?

Last, but not least, this is your gift from mommy and daddy. You didn't see it yet, but I think you will be a very happy boy tomorrow morning. I can't wait to show it to you!

Here's a peek at what mommy made for your classmates for your birthday tomorrow:
There are 17 kids in your class, including you. I stuffed all the bags in reusable shopping bags for daddy to take tomorrow.

Here is Lily's loot bag. I didn't have too much time to do everything I wanted, but it's ok. When you are older I will do a much better job :-)

I put a flower lollipop (it's what I'm using for Auntie Jess' baby shower favours), a colouring notebook (a design I had made in your 1 year birthday party loot bag), stickers, a bottle of bubbles, Crayola crayons, and a stamp. I stayed up until 2am this weekend making these for everyone. Sigh.

I hope you have a wonderful 2-year birthday tomorrow. Mommy and daddy loves you very much and we can't wait to celebrate your special day with you. Xoxo.
