I'm losing my mind

Dear Aidan,

I'm about to pull all my hair out today.
You are screaming right now. I've been trying to put you to sleep, but you always fight it. I'm so exhausted from having no sleep right now that I'm just allowing you to cry it out. I know you are super tired, but I don't know why you won't sleep. It's driving me nuts! It's been a horrible, rainy week this week so I've been stuck indoors with you and I think that's also driving me crazy. Rosco and I are in the office trying to regain our insanity.

Daddy doesn't understand why I get so frustrated. He has to understand that I'm home 24/7. Then when he does get home it would help a great deal if he takes over and looks after you while I have some alone time. But he gets so tired after looking after you for an hour that he always comes and bothers me. Plus, I'm still the one putting you to sleep even though I give you formula right before bed. Why do I have to still do that???? I know he's going to be pissed when he reads this, but I'm so annoyed today. I feel like crying...

Some pictures of you at Auntie Sara's wedding

Dear Aidan,

Auntie Jess sent me some pictures of you from Auntie Sara's wedding this past Saturday. I'm not sure who took these photos, but you are so cute in them! Auntie Sara's wedding photographer (who was also mommy and daddy's wedding photographer) took a lot of pictures of you too so I'm hoping to get some extra prints of it.

You at the church. Maybe this was taken when Auntie Sara was walking down the aisle? I know she was saying that when she was walking down the aisle you were looking at her so intently.

I have no idea why you were on the ground here. I think your Toronto grandpa put you on the ground. Sometimes I get annoyed because he can do some irresponsible things to you- like putting you on the dirty ground where your hands will get all dirty.

Daddy was saying how your head was down because you were so tired from crawling all over the dance floor.

Eventually your Toronto grandma picked you up from the ground. Yay!

Your second cousin, Ethan, was such a sweetie to you the whole night. I love him!

That's your 2nd cousins, Naomi (she's so cute!) and Ethan. There's Sophie, Uncle Dan's brother's daughter, behind you. Sophie was chasing you all over the dance floor and then you chased her after that. I got a good laugh watching you two.

The greatest invention ever

Dear Aidan,

I want to personally thank the person that invented Cheerios. It is absolutely amazing. It hardly makes a mess (it doesn't melt easily like your rice rusk treats) and it keeps you occupied when mommy needs it. Plus, the hole in the middle keeps you from choking on it if it were to get lodged in your throat. Perfect!

You are beginning to have so much personality now. The more I watch you I really cannot believe how you were inside my stomach a year ago. Even daddy, who is so unaffectionate to mommy, goes gaga over you. When I see him play with you I get a warm, fuzzy feeling inside. I want you to know when you grow up that we love you so so so much. It really saddened me during Auntie Sara's wedding this past Saturday that one day in the future I will watch you get married. I think I will cry like a little baby. I can't believe I'm already thinking about that, but I can't help it.

Anyways, when I get frustrated at you I see the look that you give me (see photo below) and I just melt. How can I be upset at a face like that???

Happy Mothers Day!

Dear Aidan,

Today is a special day for me because it's my first Mothers Day. I was a little upset this morning because daddy forgot. He also forgot Valentines Day too this year. I'm not asking for a whole lot, but I just want to be appreciated once in a while. There's a reason why Mothers Day holds dear to so many people than Fathers Day. It's because mothers do a whole whack more than fathers! Anyways, daddy made it up to me by taking me and my mom out to The David Duncan House for dinner. He promised next year he will get me a card. If you know daddy he doesn't write cards... EVER! However, I'm a sucker for stuff like that- cards, flowers, you name it.

We called your Vancouver grandmother today to wish her Happy Mothers Day and she asked me to send some recent pictures of you as I hadn't sent her any for a while. You see, I was busy with Auntie Sara's wedding and doing some other freelance stuff on the side. I decided to send some pictures to her with you holding a Happy Mothers Day card. However, when I took the card away (because you kept trying to bend it!) you started crying like a little baby. It's funny because when you start crying really hard these 2 tear drops form on the middle of your eyes. It's so cute. Plus, you cry with so much emotion like someone died or something. Here's what I mean by that:

Right after I took away the card. Poor baby... Life is hard, ain't it?

A close-up shot of the tears forming on your eyes.

Awwwww.

There's the baby I know and love!

Are you up to no good?

Dear Aidan,

Look at that face! You totally look like you did something and are up to no good. Anyways, here are 5 things that happened today:

You woke up at 7:30am this morning. I think you woke up earlier than usual because daddy made so much noise before he left for work this morning. Ugh!

You had meat for the 3rd time ever today. You make the funniest face when you try meat, more specifically beef. You make this disgusted face like you are going to gag. It's so funny! Maybe you're a vegetarian baby.

You pooed 3 times today. I think the few days that you didn't have a bowel movement caused you to poo a lot yesterday and today.

You and I went for a walk around 1:30pm. I wanted you to take a nap and a sure way for you to nap is if you are in the stroller. It's been very difficult for me to put you to sleep during the day so I had to take you out. Unfortunately you only slept for like 10 minutes. Basically babies your age are supposed to be taking 2 naps during the day to sleep for a total of 14 hours in a day. You take 0 naps during the day and you sleep late and wake up early. UGH!

Right before you slept you kept crying out for me. You kept saying 'um-ma, um-ma' while you were blowing bubbles from your mouth. You were exhausted so I think you were trying to communicate with me. Daddy said, 'I think Aidan likes you more than me.' Duh.

Fashion show

Dear Aidan,

I attempted to do a photo shoot with all the clothes you got in the mail yesterday, but you were getting too cranky around your 3rd outfit change. It was soooooo hot in our house today and I was sweating bullets trying to put on each outfit. I could understand why you were cranky. A few times you tried to make a quick getaway!

You in your Burberry outfit. Ballin'!

I think you liked how you were looking because you kept checking yourself in the mirror.

What a guy...

You wanted to see what other clothing options you had on the bed.

Pants on the ground!

Look at all those clothes!

In between clothing changes. Don't be shy.

You were getting tired and cranky at this point. You tend to scratch the back of your neck when you are tired.

Oh... pilsung Korea! (this is the official Korean jersey for the World Cup in South Africa). Daddy demanded your grandparents get you the jersery while they were in Korea.

This is a very nice jacket that they got for you.

Aidan: What's next mommy?

You made another quick getaway to the mirror. Man, are you vain.

Aidan: Look how many teeth I have!

Aidan, meet Aidan.

Aidan: Who's this good looking guy?

The last outfit of the day.

We did it for the country!

Dear Aidan,

We did it! You finally pooed today. The last time you pooed was on Wednesday. I was so worried that I got Auntie Sara to buy prune juice and some pears for me to give to you today. Fortunately we didn't need to as you had pooed just before she got here. Your poo was shaped like a big pancake. Gross. But you had to do what you had to do, right?
Then when Auntie Sara was over you pooed again. This time it was the size of a rock. You were in such a good mood after you pooed. You even took a nap! Yay! All I have to say is that there is always a reason why you are cranky. I just thought you were bad last week just for the sake of it, but now I realize that it was because you were constipated.

So you are probably wondering why the post title is 'We did it for the country!', right? Well, I sing a song for you every time you do something good and it goes something like this:

We did it for the country
We did it for the man

We did it for the country
We did it for the land

I invented the first verse and daddy invented the second verse. We are such geeks. Hehe.

So your Vancouver grandparents sent you a huge package of stuff they got for you in Korea. And I mean HUGE! The funny thing is they didn't send over everything. They said that they will bring the rest of the stuff when they come in July. You are such a lucky boy. A spoiled, but lucky boy... I'll do a fashion show photoshoot tomorrow with all your stuff you got.
