Baby Kendall has finally arrived! It all started when mommy and daddy were watching Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark in the basement. We had already put you down to sleep after we came home from having your birthday dinner at Pickle Barrel. It was about 25 minutes into the movie when I felt my water break. I was so shocked because my water didn't break with you. The nurse had to break my water with you.
Because I was GBS+ with Kendall, the hospital told me to come as soon as my water broke so that they could give me pencillin to reduce the risk of neonatal infection. Usually the hospital tells people in labour to wait until they start getting contractions before coming to the hospital even if their water breaks, but in my case I had to go right away. We were so lucky because my water broke on a Friday night so we were able to coordinate and have Auntie Sara come over to sleep overnight with you while daddy and I headed to the hospital. Your Toronto grandparents came earlier to supervise while they waited for Auntie Sara to come over. I'm just glad we were able to celebrate your birthday with you before Kendall arrived. I really believe that we were blessed in every way. The timing was just perfect. I had been worried all week because I thought I might go into labour while I was home by myself and if it was on a weekday it would have been hard to get my family to rearrange their schedule.
On our way to the hospital after my water broke. Daddy was driving a little erratically because he wanted to get me to the hospital as soon as possible.
This is the IV they put on me to get the antibiotics in my system. They had to do this before I gave birth.
Around 10:30am the nurse, Abbiba, started prepping the room for baby Kendall's arrival. They said that I would probably have Kendall before noon.
Mommy in pain. I did get epidural when the pain started getting worse. After that it was smooth sailing.
Look how precious Kendall is.
She has daddy's eyes.
Such a tiny baby at 5lbs 15oz.
The proud father of a baby girl.
