Sad that the weekend is over :-(

Dear Aidan,

I just put you to bed. Let me just say that both daddy and I are pooped. Even though we took a nap earlier I think this long weekend was pretty exhausting. Exhausting in a good way. Before we had you, daddy and I would always do fun things in the weekends- check out restaurants, go shopping, check out different parts of the city, catch a flick, etc. I guess now that you are in the picture we can't just up and do the same stuff. It takes a lot of planning to organize outings. We have to make sure the weather is ok, I have enough milk that I expressed, the place we are going to are baby-friendly (by that I mean if they have a change table in the washrooms), your diaper bag is packed with all your essentials, the list goes on.

Today we decided to check out Sheridan Nurseries. The weather has been so nice lately that we have to start thinking about preparing our backyard or the summer. Right now it's a mess. There's so many weeds and the previous owner of our house didn't have a green thumb. Then we went home and walked over to the park. We put you in the swing, but I don't think you enjoyed it very much.

OMG, I'm falling asleep while I'm writing this. I think I should go to bed. Your paternal grandparents are leaving for Japan/Korea tomorrow morning. They called earlier and they miss you so much. They will be buying your 'hanbok' (Korean traditional dress) for your 1 year birthday party while there.

I heart long weekends

Dear Aidan,

I just adore long weekends. It allows mommy to have more 'me' time (because daddy is home and helping out) and we, as a family, can do fun things together. It's really hard when daddy takes the car to work because mommy and you are stuck at home all day. Now that the weather is getting warm (today was 23 degrees btw) we had another fun day out. We decided to check out McEwan at Shops at Don Mills. I've been there before, but daddy hasn't been there yet. I wanted him to see how nice it was there. Plus, one of our favourite restaurants is One, which is one of Chef Mark McEwan's restaurant. Since it was so nice out we also window shopped around there. We had hot dogs by the hot dog stand and bought a few grocery items at McEwan- pappardelle pasta and pasta sauce for tonight's dinner. Let me just say that I'm now a huge fan of pappardelle pasta. Mmmmm.

A fun day out

Dear Aidan,

The weather has been shaping up so nicely. I think it went up to 25 degrees today. Since daddy had to work in the morning even though it was Good Friday we couldn't go out until the afternoon. We were debating to take you to the zoo since Auntie Jess and Uncle Wayne were going there today. However, it was so expensive and we thought you would be too young to remember going there. We figured that you would appreciate going there when you were a little older. We decided to go to Unionville instead. Unionville is a historic little area in Markham where there are some great historic houses and great boutiques and restaurants.

This was you in your car seat right before we got out of the car in Unionville. I had just woken you up so you were not happy.



You had this really grumpy face while we were walking through Unionville. I'm sorry to say, but you didn't look cute.



We put a hat on your head to shield you from the sun. This hat, whenever I put it on you, makes you look like a train conductor.

Near the end of our meal you were getting pretty restless. You kept putting your shoes in your mouth and doing kicking motions.



After our late lunch we walked to a gelato/frozen yogurt/ice cream joint (which was packed btw) and ordered some dessert.



I think you were getting jealous of us eating our ice cream/gelato because you started eating your shoes!



I think the outing made you super tired because you conked out in the car ride home.



However, I don't think the nap in the car was enough. I put you in the play pen at home and you fell asleep in that funny position.

When you awoke from your nap you were full of energy. We put you in your jumper and daddy showed me a game that he plays with you. He didn't want to show it to me because he thought I would copy the game. He's so ridiculous. Anyways, it was a super cute game. Basically he puts his face really close to your face. As you can see from the following photos you lean ever so slightly to daddy's nose and you bite it with your new teeth! Then you giggle afterwards. What a silly guy you are.

Asleep at the park

Dear Aidan,

Today was another gorgeous day. It was so warm outside that I didn't even have to wear a light jacket. I took you and Rosco to the park again. This time I took you to the park closer to our house. I never take you there because ever since it opened last fall it's always jam packed with kids and moms. I figured that the swings would always be taken. However, I decided to take a chance today. Well, I was right. It was taken. However, I waited patiently until it was free and I swooped in quickly. I think you were so tired because you feel asleep in the swing! It was so funny because you were all slouched. The baby beside you kept looking at you and her mommy kept saying, 'look at the baby sleeping beside you.' I took you out of the swing and you were still conked out. You must have been so tired. I wanted to take you down the slide, but maybe next time...

Tomorrow is supposed to be even nicer. Yay! It's good because tomorrow is Good Friday. Daddy will have to go in to work for a little bit, but I just adore long weekends. It gives mommy some breathing room and you get to see more of daddy.

Happy 3rd birthday Rosco

Dear Aidan,

Today is Rosco's 3rd birthday. Because of the lack of attention Rosco has been getting ever since you were born I decided to take him out for a walk with us today. I know it wasn't much, but Rosco's been home almost every day. Both daddy and I are so tired sometimes that we don't take Rosco out for a walk.

While we were at the park I wanted to put you in the baby swing. I didn't push you too hard because it was a totally new experience for you. However, I think you really enjoyed the back-and-forth motion and the wind blowing your hair.

Aidan 'Alfalfa' Kim

Dear Aidan,

You've been sporting a very interesting hairdo for the past couple of days. I call it the 'Alfalfa-do' because it reminds me of Alfalfa's hairdo in the movie The Little Rascals.

Today, and even yesterday, you kept repeating 'umma' over and over again. I think you are now beginning to understand that it means mommy. When I leave the room and you can't see me you start saying it over and over again. I'll post a video of you saying it over and over again yesterday.

Dear Aidan,

If you know mommy you know that I will only buy things are useful AND aesthetically beautiful. If it works, but isn't pretty I will not buy it. I just came across this Boon Grass Countertop Drying Rack on Nicole's website and I just went gaga over it. Currently I put your baby stuff in the same drying rack as ours, but I always wanted to keep it separate. This is just perfect and it's not too expensive. I think it's about $18.99 on their website. Plus, it'll make our kitchen countertop more 'green' looking. Love it! Now to find out where they sell it in our area...
