Tiring day

Dear Aidan,

Today was a long day for mommy and daddy. We went to church in the morning and mom signed you up to get baptized for Christmas day service on Friday December 25, 2009 at 11am. You and Asher will both be baptized on the same day.
After that, mommy and daddy went to Pacific Mall to pick up the glasses that we ordered yesterday. On the way home we were planning to stop by your grandparents new house because they just got the keys to the new place on Friday, but we were exhausted. We ended up going home and taking a long nap.

I guess the funny thing that happened today was when mommy and daddy were eating popsicles I playfully put my popsicle to your mouth and you opened your mouth wide. I was shocked because I didn't think you would react to that since you are solely breast fed. I guess pretty soon you'll be putting all sorts of things in your mouth. It was very cute because you opened your mouth so wide and when mommy was like 'Oh my gosh!' you laughed at me like you it was a funny joke. It was very cute. I think daddy was so surprised too. He told me I should tape it next time.

Christmas flats

Dear Aidan,

I just finished making some Christmas flats to give to a few people for Christmas. It was my first time making these so there's a few things I need to tweak if I want to make another batch. Basically I cut 2 card stock papers in different sizes and used a rounded corner punch to round out the corners. I then cut out different circle punches on the cards- the bigger punch for your photo and fabric prints for the smaller punches. I'm going to be writing my Christmas wishes on the back and send it out on a chocolate brown envelope. Hope people like it!

It's all worth it

Dear Aidan,

As you can see from the post time mommy is wide awake in the middle of the night yet again. You woke up crying so I changed your diaper and fed you. I just tucked you back to sleep.
While I was feeding you my mind started to wander. I think more and more I'm beginning to understand the heart of God. Some of these sleepless nights and days of repetition can make me go crazy sometimes, but when you smile at me it makes it all worth it. I think that's just how it is with us and God. We do a lot of terrible things, but God never turns away from us. We are His creation and He loves us. It reminds me of a few Bible stories where God had a choice to destroy us in many occasions- story of Noah's Ark and Sodom and Gomorroah, but He chose to remain faithful and believe that we could come back to Him again. And I think that's the mystery of creation. It gave me God's perspective, but at the same time it made me want to change the way I am as a parent. My life is no longer my life. You are now in the equation. I can no longer live life only thinking of myself. I now have to think twice before I do anything. It's no longer 'What would Jesus do', but 'What would mommy do'? That's why I wonder about some parents whose lives aren't totally transformed by having a baby. Take for example, Tiger Woods. I'm not sure if he will still be a huge star athlete when you are older, but news just broke a few days ago how he had an extramarital affair. What surprised me most about the whole story was that he had an affair with a woman while his wife was pregnant with their second child. There were even reports that he was texting with one of his mistresses while his wife was delivering! When I hear stuff like that I have to think whether or not he experienced true transformation. But that's just it, it's either one or the other. I'm only mentioning stars because they are so well-known, but take a look at Angelina Jolie. She was a wild child, but once she adopted her first child (and many more to come!) her life was transformed.
Well, enough of my blabbering. I'm ready to go to bed now. You seem to have gone back to sleep.

Christmas gift ideas

Dear Aidan,

There's so many cute gifts for kids that I always come across. Although mommy is on maternity leave right now and really making no income maybe these items will be one of your future Christmas gifts?

Converse custom sneakers, $45USD for kids
Although there's no shipping to Canada right now, I had a ton of fun making this creation (see below). I hope that in the future they will have shipping to Canada. I would love to snatch a pair of these for you.

Benjamin Boy Bear Personalized, $128USD
"Mompreneur" Kata makes these lovely bears out of hand-stitched felt. You can personalize it too.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bear Boy Stocking, $139USD
Same mompreneur as above, but I had to include it because I was looking for cute Christmas stockings this year and this one is awesome. Again, this one comes personalized and it is made out of wool felt.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ton by Taro Miura, $15.95USD
I love any children's books that are designed by Graphic Designers- i.e., Paul Rand and Bruno Munari. This one looks like it's a good one. Besides, I'm running out of books to read to you during bedtime.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know it's still too early to get you plates and bowls, but I'm loving these melamine plates, especially the blue and green one.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

blabla backpacks, $42USD
I'm not sure how daddy will feel about these backpacks. He might think it looks really girly, but I love it. I think it's so cute and I love how it's all knitted.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Smallville Cardigan with Hood, $47USD
I always find it unfair that boys clothings just aren't as cute as little girls clothings. However, the entire collection from Smallville is so cute. Plus, it's all handmade. You can tell by all the design details in all of her clothing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Land of Nod wooden toy sets, $24.95USD each set
Everyone knows that I HATE plastic toys. I think they look ugly and I'm also afraid that it may be toxic for kids. These wooden toys for kids are so cool and also safe.

Skin maybe 5% better

Dear Aidan,

I think your face got 5% better. However, now your back is all covered in blotches. Great.

Oh...my...gosh...

Dear Aidan,

Mommy is not happy with you right now. Daddy and I have been trying to put you to sleep for 2 1/2 hours now. I don't know why you are being such a cry baby. I know you are tired because you keep rubbing your eyes, but you just won't want to sleep when I put you down. Every time I go back to bed you wake up and start screaming. Daddy suggested putting you in our bed for tonight, but I won't do that. I established a routine with you and I don't want to break that. If I put you in our bed for the night you're going to always want to sleep in our bed.

Uh oh, I think you woke up again. Sheesh...

Skin condition update

Dear Aidan,

I can't post photos of you today because your face has gotten worse. We are still waiting to see if the cream we bought you on Sunday will work. I think it has gotten a little better because all the dried, peeling skin is gone, although your skin is still very red and blotchy. Daddy seems to think otherwise. Daddy won't believe me that some babies just go through these things- blocked tear duct, constipation, scratching of skin, eczema, etc. Every time you are going through something he gets so stressed out. Don't get me wrong, I worry too, but I think we have to give it time to heal. I hate it when daddy calls me every day to ask me about your face. I feel that he gets disappointed in me when I tell him it's still the same.
Please PLEASE get better. It doesn't help that you keep flip over in your crib to your stomach and sleep with your face on the mattress.
