Work mode

Dear Aidan,

I love the pictures I took of you today. You look so thoughtful.

As promised here is the work-in-progress of your birthday party decorations that I've been working on. Daddy was surprised that I finished some of the stuff because I still have 2 months left. However, I have so much I have to work on. I need to get as much stuff out of the way as possible. Plus, July is going to be crazy because your Vancouver grandparents and aunt are flying in. I don't think I'll have much time to work on anything.

Here is your banner that I'm going to put on the backdrop. I still have to string it with string, but it's pretty much complete.

Sorry it's so messy, but I wanted to show you the process of how it all came together. As you can see the stickers I used are on the side. I cut the paper into 4" squares and alternated between patterns and solid colours. I then hole punched 2 holes at the top to string the string through and backed the backside with hole punch protectors.

These are the plastic baskets I was talking about yesterday. I bought it in yellow and green at Dollarama. Aren't they cute?

I made circle labels for the baskets with 'Please take one' written on it. I'm going to be putting cookies in the baskets for the guests to take home with them. These baskets will be placed on the tables at the venue. I printed these out in card stock and hole punched the sides.

I love how the sides of the baskets have a happy face on it. It doesn't look like a dollar store find to me.

I used bakers twine to tie the circle labels on the baskets.

The finished product. Love it!

I'm in the process of making stuff for the kids' loot bags. I'm thinking of making my own notebooks for the kids. I'm going to be printing different covers for the notebooks and bind it with librarian book tape. Here's a sneak peek:

I made about 6 different cover versions with different images. On the inside I'm going to use different graph papers and some colouring pages for the kids to colour and other activities. So far I'm going to be including the notebooks, maybe some crayons, lollipops, and cookies in the loot bags. We'll see if I'll add more.

I'll show you what I'm working on next in a little while.
