After a glorious 1st night at the hospital where you slept through most of the night with no crying I was beginning to think that having a 2nd child was a piece of cake. Boy was I wrong. The 2nd night (when we were home) was an eye awakening experience. I had forgotten what it was like because it had been 3 years since Aidan was born. You were extremely fussy and kept waking up crying as soon as I put you down. I had to constantly feed you and hold you. By morning I was a zombie and literally wanted to put you back in my womb. Apparently in the booklet I got from the hospital this is totally normal. Here's what it says:
- Baby wants to be on the breast seemingly constantly. Yup!
- Baby often falls asleep at the breast and wakes up once they are moved or placed in the crib. You become concerned that the baby is sick, that you "do not have enough milk". That's exactly what I was thinking.
However, by morning things were a lot better. Your mood had changed for the better and I was able to take a nap while you took a nap during the day. I think that is the trick- to sleep when you sleep. Otherwise I would be a walking zombie.
