Bath day

Unlike Aidan we give you a bath every 2 days. The nurse told us to not give you a bath every day as it could dry your skin out. You have grown nicely these past few days. You are now 6lbs 9oz- almost a whole pound heavier. I'm starting to see some meat to your bones ;-)

Just like Aidan you love the water. You don't cry at all.

A look of concern. Your head is so wobbly that we have to be extra careful when you're taking a bath.
Plus, being a lot smaller than Aidan you seem to sink into the water much quicker.

All wrapped up after a bath. Look how tiny you are bundled in your bath towel.

Don't you feel MUCH cleaner?

My sick boy

So the hydrocortisone didn't work. We woke up this morning to get you ready for daycare and you were still in a lot of pain. We decided to take you to see your family doctor today. I already had a check-up for Kendall today at 12:30pm so we decided to bring you along. Daddy had to take a day off work so that he could help me.
When we got to the doctor's office the doctor wasn't sure what it was, but she wanted us to go to a dermatologist as soon as possible as your blisters had spread across your body. We rushed to the dermatologist and we found out that you have impetigo. It's a highly infectious bacterial skin infection that affects a lot of kids. I'm not sure how you contracted it, but you must have been exposed to someone or something that gave it to you. And since you already have eczema you probably got it by touching an open sore that you had somewhere on your body. We had to get topical antibiotics and an oral medication for you. We have to take you out of daycare for at least a week. I'm not sure how I'm going to deal with 2 kids at home since daddy has to go back to work starting tomorrow…
I'm just hoping that you will get better as I hate seeing you in a lot of pain.

Your arm pit area is the worst right now. It's very raw and there are blisters everywhere.

You started getting blisters on the folds of your elbow area.

The blister that was on your chest area is now much larger and the blister has popped.

A closer look at the arm pit area.

Your doctor examining you. Even though you were in a lot of pain you were surprisingly so well-behaved.
You lay down when she told you to and did everything that she instructed you to do.
We have to be extra careful with Kendall as she could get infected. We have to constantly wash our hands and
make sure she doesn't get exposed.

It started with a small spot…

On Saturday you kept complaining about your right arm hurting. Daddy saw a small spot on your arm and thought you were being a little drama queen about it so he put a bandaid over it. We really didn't think nothing of it, but you kept whining and crying every time we touched near there. Then on Sunday we noticed that the area around your armpit was getting really bad with open sores and raw skin. It looked very painful. We decided to put some Polysporin over it and put a gauze pad over it to prevent you from scratching it. However, the Polysporin burnt and you were in excruciating pain. We sent you to daycare today hoping that the Poly would make it a little better. However, when you got home it was even worse! The area got larger with blisters and peeling skin and I noticed small blisters in other parts of your body like your chest area (see photo above). Because it was already so late we couldn't take you to a walk-in clinic, but I went to our local pharmacy to talk to the pharmacist. He suggested we put a mild hydrocortisone cream on the affected areas. I really hope and pray that it works…

Look how painful this looks! My poor baby!

A day in the life…

A print I want to get for baby Kendall's room
Kendall didn't sleep much last night so we hung out at home even though it was a beautiful day outside. Daddy is going back to work starting on Monday (oh no!) so we wanted to get a few things on our to-do list done today. Here's a quick snapshot diary of what went down today:

Aidan in his diapers in time out. Lately you've been acting up. I guess it's the terrible 2 (er… 3) stage. Daddy put
you in time out and you were crying hysterically. When you cry like that you usually end up throwing up or
having a bloody nose. This time it was throwing up all over your clothes.
The Olympics officially started yesterday. Here you are posing in front of the TV making the peace sign.
How cute!

Kendall's been pooping like crazy ever since we brought her home. This is her face after she pooped in her
diapers. She looks stunned.

Don't worry Kendall, we still love you!

So we spruced up your room by adding a shelving unit from Ikea beside your bed. This is the LACK wall shelf unit
in white.

Mounting this allowed me to move some of your stuff in Kendall's room to your room. Look at you admiring
your new shelving unit.

Here's another look.

I rearranged somethings on top of your dresser. This is what is opposite of your bed.

We also mounted the EKBY BJARNUM wall shelf in white.

Kendall and Aidan posing on Aidan's bed. My lovelies.
In the afternoon I took you to our local park because we had been stuck at home all day. I figured you needed
some fresh air. You rode on the swing for quite a while and here you are giving me the peace sign.

You were so captivated by the big boys playing in the playground. You kept watching them climb over railings and
roofs.

Look how much fun you are having :-)

My pretty girl

I'm just so in love with you Kendall. So is daddy. He literally is head-over-heels in love with you. He keeps kissing you and wanting to hold you constantly. I took these photos of you this morning when I woke up to feed you. You were much better last night than the night before. I was able to catch some much needed Zzz's. It helped that I slept when you slept, but that meant going to bed at 9:30pm.

Eat, sleep, poop

Kendall, it seems the only thing you do is eat, sleep, poop. It's hard because at night you constantly want to feed. I hardly get any sleep at night. And every time I feed you at night you poop so then you are hungry again. Sigh.
I had forgotten how hard it is taking care of a newborn.

You are so tiny that I don't have that many clothes that fit you right now.

Kendall in pink. So cute ;-)

Family love

What a beautiful family I have. I'm so thankful that Kendall is healthy and you are such an excellent big brother to Kendall. I was really worried that you would get jealous, but so far it's been great. You keep kissing Kendall and caressing her whenever you can. Plus, you try to help me when I'm feeding or trying to calm her down.

Daddy and I stopped by Toys R Us on our way home from Pacific Mall (daddy had to get his glasses adjusted
and he bought mommy a new pair of Chanel sunglasses :-)) because we had a gift certificate from Auntie Jessica
for your birthday gift. We wanted to surprise you with a gift you would love when we picked you up from daycare.
And this is what we got- Jake and the Neverland Pirates ship. You just love that show so we were confident
that you would love this. Thanks Auntie Jessica!

You absolutely loved your gift. It came with a little figurine of Jake. It also came with Scully (the parrot), but you
kept asking where Hook was. Haha.

The boat had so many features like a cannon that shot out arrows with a press of a button.

A day in the life…

Last night was a much better night than the night before. You seem to be settled in now. I was able to feed you a few times in the middle of the night, but you fell asleep without any fussiness so I felt much better in the morning. We dropped off Aidan in the morning at daycare because we had to take you to your first doctors appointment.

It's weird, but I think you might have ssang ga pul (double eyelids). Both daddy and I don't have that, but for some
reason when you first open your eyes you have the double fold. We shall see. Look how many scratches you have
on your face. I had to trim your nails down to prevent you from scratching your face. The gloves are just
too big at this point. They keep falling off.

On our way to the doctor's appointment. Look how cute you are here. You are giving mommy the peace sign.

You saw something that caught your eye. Look at that concentration on your face.

Daddy holding you in the waiting room. Daddy is such a doting father to you. He keeps wanting to hold you.
I think he's going to spoil you silly.

Look at mommy's nasty bruise from the IV. Daddy wants me to post this picture so that you can see what I went
through to have you.

After the appointment we went home and I breastfed you. The doctor told me I should strip you down every time
I feed you so that we can have "skin-to-skin".

My little buddha.

After breastfeeding I dressed you up in the cutest little outfit.

I accidentally bought the premie size for the bottoms, but it fits you since you are so small. I love the strawberry feet.
