Zoo day + daddy's 37th

We went to the zoo today. It was also daddy's birthday. The big 3-7. He's still in denial.

Both daddy and I took a day off today so that we could have an extra long long weekend as it was Canada Day long weekend. We decided to check out the zoo. We took you last year, but I think you were a little too young. You didn't really understand what you were looking at. We were hoping this time would be better... and it was! You actually pointed to the animals as you saw them and you were really fascinated with them.

Here's a little photo journal of our little zoo trip:

On our way to the zoo. It was a beautiful clear day and it was around 26 degrees. It felt hotter because we were in direct sunlight.

Daddy loves going to the zoo. He's a little kid inside. Happy birthday daddy! You don't look a day over 30.

This is you wiping your hands with a wipe. You are such a clean freak. Just like daddy.

My 2 favourite boys. Can't believe how big you are now.

My camera setting was all wrong. That's why this photo is over exposed.

Daddy looks like a deer in headlights.

Look at the birds! They were flying around in this pavilion.

And the turtle.

They had this really neat plant in one of the pavilions. It was furry and pink. Very unusual.

You were fascinated with the fishes. You kept pointing and saying, "Fish!"

I think these are orangutans.

You were watching them run around.

They are not the prettiest of animals...

Look how you're staring at them.

Another pose with daddy.

Now it's mommy's turn!

Daddy saw these 3 elephant statues by the elephant exhibit. He put you in between 2 of them and asked me to take a picture. You don't look too impressed.

Say goodbye to the elephant. They are transferring these elephants out in a few months. A lot of people protested that elephants should not be in the Toronto zoo because of our harsh winters. Apparently some elephants died because of this and animal protestors, like Bob Barker, lobbied for the move.

We saw this beautiful peacock just walking around. The colours were phenomenal.

Look at the millions of fishes behind us. Daddy's scared of little fishies.

Mommy and the Cookie Monster lover.

We tried taking you out of your stroller and getting you to walk at certain spots. We really hate that you hate walking on your own. You also don't like being in your stroller. You only like being held. However, it's really hard because you are getting sooooo heavy.

Daddy and you at the penguin exhibit.

At first I didn't notice the penguins.

But then I saw them. They are the little black creatures beside the birds.

A close-up look. They are so cute!

There is a giraffe behind us! You liked the giraffe.

This monkey was so funny. He was rolling around in front of you.

You were not impressed however.

Naptime! You fell asleep while drinking your milk.

We were heading to the Canadian Domain and we saw a zebra. Too bad you were sleeping...

Close-up of the zebra. I love this shot.

Welcome to the Canadian Domain. Every time we come here you are always passed out! This happened last year too.

Lights out.

I love the bears.

We had to get a shot of you posing in front of the bear statues. Sleeping or not.

Look at that delicious face.

Bisons. I was craving bison burgers. Just kidding. I've never had bison burgers.

We hung out at the bear section because the zoo keepers hadn't let them out of their cages and we were waiting for them to come out.

After a few minutes of waiting the bears were released. I thought you were sleeping while I was taking photos, but I heard a roar in your stroller. I guess you had woken up and as soon as you saw the bears you let out a roar. What a cutie!

They were having a feast eating vegetables that were laid out for them.

We headed back to where the zebra was and this time you were able to see it. You kept calling him dog though...

This is a video of you walking up the huge hill after the Canadian Domain.

Hello Mr Giraffe! Look how long his neck is!

Daddy and you posing in front of the giraffe.

Pretty flowers.

You absolutely loved the pink flamingos. You cried when we had to leave.

I think it's because they were such a vibrant colour.

Mommy and you in front of the camels.

Near the end of our trip we saw a group of Canadian geese crossing the road. I've never seen that many cross at one time.

It was a great trip, but it was very tiring. We were there for almost 7 hours!
