Back in daycare

Mommy took another day off, but I decided to put you in daycare for half a day. I wanted to transition you slowly back into daycare. I was worried that you were going to be all clingy and cry hysterically as you normally do when I drop you off, but I was surprised when you went over to one of the teachers, raised your arms to indicate that you wanted to be lifted up and that was that. The teacher sat you down in one of the chairs, gave you a piece of waffle pancake and you didn't care less if I was there or not.

When mommy went to pick you up around 3:30pm you were outside in the playground. There was an ice cream truck that was parked in the parking lot and one of the teachers told me that your class was enjoying ice cream. When I went over to where your class was, all of you were sitting on the ground, lined up and enjoying an ice cream cone. It was the cutest thing. The best part of all was that every single one of you were covered in ice cream. It was quite a sight. I stayed with you until you finished your cone, but it pained me to watch as the ice cream was dripping all over your front. You even tried to hug me a couple of times, but I had to push you away because I didn't want to be covered in ice cream. I guess you are ok now. The teachers didn't mention that you were looking ill so I think I'm ready to head back to work tomorrow. It was good while it lasted.

Later in the evening we went out to meet your Toronto grandparents for dinner at Song Cooks and you put on quite the show. They are absolutely head over heels in love with you. How can they not be when you are such a cutie pie.

Doing better

The good news is that you didn't throw up once today. The bad news is that mommy had a rough day with you. I think you were cranky because you were constipated (you didn't poo since Friday). You kept wanting me by your side. I don't have a problem with that, but mommy had to do some work and you kept whining beside me. At one point I lost it and spanked you a few times. It was a hard day.

In the afternoon I was able to get out with you and Rosco and take you both to the park. It was nice to get out, but again, you were pretty whiny. I'm hoping to put you in daycare for half a day tomorrow so that you can transition back, but I will be taking another day off.

You were finally able to poo just before you went to bed and boy was it a huge one! I think it was the largest poo yet. I almost passed out from the smell. You were farting all day and finally you were able to pass stool.

My poor baby

You know what I hate? I hate feeling so helpless whenever you are sick. I want to do everything in my power to make you feel better, but when I don't know what to do and I can't make you feel better it just drives me nuts!
You still are throwing up. Last night, I slept in your room because I was so afraid that you were going to throw up in the middle of the night and choke from your vomit. I didn't sleep a wink because I woke up to every sound you made. In the morning you looked a little better so I gave you some milk. After about 30 minutes you rested your head on daddy's lap and threw up all over him and our living room. Let me just say that your vomit STINKS! I was already so tired from cleaning up last night's vomit in the car that I was so upset having to clean more. We decided that it was time to take you to the walk-in clinic. I already read online yesterday that your symptoms weren't severe, but I knew I had to get something to prevent your vomiting. I read that electrolyte fluids (Pedialyte) were good and I should be feeding you a BRAT diet (banana, rice, apple sauce, toast). We drove by 2 walk-in clinics near us, but they were both closed so we went to a pharmacy and talked to a pharmacist. She recommended Pedialyte and children's Gravol (to help the vomiting and feelings of nausea). We then went to a supermarket and we bought apple sauce, banana, and vegetables (for making a Korean rice porridge). As soon as I gave you both medicine you seemed to be better. You haven't thrown up yet and you even ate 2 bowls of jjuk (Korean rice porridge) and a whole banana. However, mommy is still going to stay home tomorrow to watch how you are. Please get better my son. I love you and it kills me when you aren't feeling well :-(

Sick day

This morning you ran into mommy's room after you woke up in the morning and stood by my side of the bed waiting for me to lift you into the bed. As soon as I did so you started gagging as if about to throw up. I immediately ran in our bathroom and held you against the sink. I wasn't too alarmed at first, but when daddy took you out in the morning to do a quick errand you threw up all over in the car. Daddy rushed home and I was shocked to see so much throw up in the car. I know it's gross to talk about it, but you were covered in vomit. Apparently, daddy had given you a bottle of milk for the ride and you threw up all of that and even more in the car. I hadn't told daddy about your throw-up accident in the morning so he thought you were totally fine. It was quite the morning/afternoon because daddy and I had to stay in to wash the car and take your car seat out. You had a speech therapy appointment in the afternoon so we had to make sure your car seat was cleaned up before the appointment. It was my first time cleaning up the car seat so I wasn't able to clean it completely. It still smelled like puke when I put it back in. Sigh.

I'm not sure what you ate, but I think you ate something funny. You weren't able to keep anything down the whole day. Mommy and daddy had to keep giving you water because everything else you threw up right away.

When we finally went to your speech therapy appointment you were not your 100% self. You didn't really want to do anything and you even threw up a couple of times while you were there. Luckily the therapist was more interested in me telling her what you were capable of doing at this stage in life. I wasn't too worried because you are very verbal these days. She said you were fine, but that you should be working on your adjectives and verbs. So instead of us saying, "Aidan, where's the dog?" we should now be asking you, "Aidan, show me the running dog" or "Show me the sad dog." I guess we were so worried back when you were one that you didn't have enough nouns in your vocabulary that we were continuing to teach you nouns, but the therapist was saying that in order for you to form sentences you needed verbs and adjectives. It was very helpful just seeing her to get tips on how to teach you to talk. You still form simple sentences, but it could be better.

I just hope that you feel better by tomorrow. Otherwise I'm worried that you won't be able to go to daycare on Monday. They won't take a sick toddler. We shall see.

Daddy & Emma

We visited Emma as a family today. It was the first time you and daddy were seeing her since she was born on Thursday. I didn't realize how small Emma was until I saw her sleeping in the crib when we got to Auntie Jess' house. She was soooooo small in the crib! She's about 5lbs right now so Auntie Jess has to try hard to bring Emma's weight up. I can't imagine you being that small.

Anyways, Emma is such a sweetie! I can't wait until she gets a little stronger and bigger. And guess what? She has Auntie Jess' double eyelid!

Dinner at the Chung's

Auntie Sara and Uncle Dan invited us over to their place for dinner today. Mommy was selling her jewelry all day at a craft fair, but afterwards you, mommy, your Toronto grandparents went over to Auntie Sara's house for dinner. Daddy couldn't make it because he had a soccer tournament. I was famished and I was so happy that Auntie Sara made lamb. That's one of my favourites! You, on the other hand, didn't eat anything. Look how unimpressed you look in that photo. I really do wish that you weren't such a picky eater. The only thing you eat is still milk, cheese, and anything that is a noodle dish- jajang myun, somen noodles.

Meet Emma

Aidan, you have a cousin now! Her name is Emma. Isn't she a beauty?
Emma was born today a little over 5lbs. I was literally shaking today because I wanted to meet her so bad. I got really emotional when I finally laid eyes on her. She is truly a gift from God.

Auntie Jess wanted Emma to open her eyes while I was there, but Emma was fast asleep.
She woke up a couple of times when the nurse poked a needle on her little feet.

The nurse was about the swaddle her, but look how small Emma is. You were once like that.

Although she's small, she is looooong. I think she'll be a tall girl.

I remember swaddling you in that same blanket. I used the blue side of course ;-)

The nurse put a double blanket on her because she was a little cold. Since she was almost 3 weeks
early she needs to be kept warm.

Mommy is now a proud Auntie!

Mommy's 2nd birthday dinner

Auntie Sara treated mommy and Auntie Jess to a birthday dinner. We decided to go check out a restaurant near our place called A1 Autostrada. It's an Italian restaurant that got pretty good reviews online. It was so nice going out with just the girls and enjoying good food. I brought you along because daddy had soccer. You were such a good boy at the restaurant. You even enjoyed sharing mommy's meal together.

We got complimentary bread slices with a hummus dip.

You enjoyed a very fancy cheese string ;-P

The restaurant was beautiful! I can't believe daddy and I never knew about it all this time we lived
here. It only opened a year ago, but this restaurant was right beside a restaurant where mommy
went into labour with you- Sunset Grill!

Sorry the photo is blurry, but there was an impressive display of Italian cured meats.

I'm definitely going to bring daddy back here.

My lovely sisters + baby Emma (in Auntie Jess' belly of course)

Mommy and the love of mommy's life- YOU!

There were beautiful silk-screened drapes that showed Italian grandmothers/grandfathers.

We ordered calamari as our appetizer. It came with shrimp and also sardines.

This was Auntie Jess' linguine with clams dish. All the pasta were homemade.

Auntie Sara ordered tagliatelle pasta, but I'm not sure what meats were in there.

I think mine was the best dish of the night. I got the pappardelle with rabbit. It was soooooo good!
I couldn't finish it so I brought home a little sampling so daddy could have some. He really liked it too.

Nate's 1-year birthday party

I'm constantly amazed how quickly time flies. It feels like yesterday when our friends Jenn and Ed had their son, Nate. But he is now celebrating his 1-year birthday... It was a great birthday party and I can't wait to celebrate many more years!

The cake was absolutely beautiful.

My friend Jenn stayed up late each night working on all the decorations for the party.
It brought back memories of when I did that for your 1-year birthday party.

Here is Nate's dad, Ed, holding you. He just adores you.

Jenn did a beautiful job on the party.

Here are some photos of the birthday boy.

Jenn even set up a children's eating area. There were A LOT of kids.

You enjoyed a pre-birthday party snack.

Somebody gave you a balloon and you were so thrilled playing with it.

Jenn and Ed hired a children's entertainer, Jungle Jack. He was amazing, but you didn't pay
any attention to him. You were more interested in moving all the chairs around.

All the toddlers were listening to Jungle Jack, but here you are doing your own thing. Sigh.

Jungle Jack did magic tricks, but the best part was when he started making things out of balloons.
He made Nemo from Finding Nemo, Cinderella, a penguin, a dragonfly, an Alien, etc. etc.
They were all amazing.

Daddy was a bit frustrated that you didn't pay attention. I think you are still a little too young
to pay attention to anything (well, except for the TV), but I think you'll do better next year when
you're 3.

Even though you didn't pay attention, you did have lots of fun.

Here is cutie pie Victoria with a monkey climbing a tree balloon.

And here is an alien balloon.

Daddy had to take you outside a few times because you were getting a little restless.

You are so active now that you can't seem to stay still.

Be careful not to fall!

Daddy thinks you guys are twins, but I think you look more like me.

Now it's time for the dol ja bi. Nate changed into the traditional Korean dress. He doesn't look that
happy... Oh, that's his paternal grandma, btw.

And here is the birthday boy with his family.

Now it's time for Nate to smash his birthday cake. He couldn't though because his cake was made
out of fondant. It was too hard... Keke. It was still cute though.

Thirsty Aidan.

Gulp, gulp, gulp.

And on and on and on...

Haha.

At the end of the party while daddy was helping clean up you were playing with the balloons yet
again.

You were so fascinated that they kept rising.

Then you started chasing it.
