Happy New Years!

Dear Aidan,

I can't believe it's 2011. We celebrated the new year by hosting a dinner party for our family. We didn't get to do a family Christmas dinner because your Toronto grandparents went to California for vacation so we decided to do it when they got back. Today was my first attempt at making turkey. Weirdly I wasn't stressed out at all. Usually when I'm hosting dinner I'm always stressed and worried that things won't turn out the way I want it to be. Even daddy was a little bit surprised how unfazed I was. I didn't have anything to worry about because the turkey turned out amazing and all the food was sooooooo good. I love eating good food with good company.

Here's the table setting before all the guests arrived. I love dinner parties!

The cookies I made- nutty chocolate chip cookies and shortbread cookies.

I dusted both cookies with icing sugar.

Close-up of my shortbread star tree. I got these different sizes of star cookie cutters from President's Choice. This was my first time I was using it and it turned out really nicely.

My mini vases I got at McEwan. They are made by a local artist. Love!

My hae pa ri naeng chae (cold jellyfish salad). I wasn't able to take a photo of it before it was mixed together with the sauce. It's quite delicious. My mom's recipe!

My turkey. I used a Canadian Living recipe.

My salmon with Asian pear salad. Not a good photo. My sister Sara took it. It kind of looks gross here, but it's quite delicious. My sister-in-law's recipe! Haha.

turkey and stuffing in a platter. The stuffing was so good too.

Auntie Jess' puff pastry with egg salad and tuna salad. She also made a smoked salmon with cream cheese one. It was pretty yummy.

Your Toronto grandpa and you.

He couldn't stop kissing you.

You were more interested in playing with his cellphone.

Mommy mixing the salmon with Asian pear salad.

The dinner table with all the yummy foods.

You Toronto grandma made bo ssam (pork belly with steamed lettuce wrap and kimchi). The meat was so tender and flavourful.

Auntie Sara took this great shot of you.

Time to open presents!

Auntie Jess and Uncle Wayne brought your Christmas gift today.

You were more interested in holding the gift instead of opening it.

It took quite a while to open each gift.

An Elmo book! You love books.

What could the next gift be?

Dry erase markers for the white eraser board in your new easel! You also got a package of chalk for the chalkboard side of the easel.

The last thing was a laptop! I was loving all the gifts because they were all educational. It was so thoughtful of them. Thanks Auntie Jess and Uncle Wayne!

You couldn't wait to touch every button.

Hopefully this will teach you the alphabet.

My little computer nerd in training.

You loved drawing on the board. Unfortunately you got marker all over the wooden side of the easel too. That didn't come off...

Aidan: Mommy, look at me draw!

Time to draw on the chalkboard.

Look at that concentration.

My Picasso-in-training.

A random butt shot. I love these pants on you. I just want to kiss your bum bum.

Look at all the strokes you drew on the chalkboard.

Grandpa taking a turn to draw on your chalkboard.

I wonder if you will be an artistic kid.
