First day back

Dear Aidan,

After 2 weeks of being on vacation, mommy finally went back to work today. Daddy had a day off, but starting tomorrow everyone goes back to work. And you, back to daycare. It was a good break and you seemed much happier to be with us. I think that right now you are at a turning point. Very soon you will be moving from your infant room in daycare to a toddler room. Can you believe it? I can't. I wonder if your best friend, Hayden, will be joining you. You guys play so well together.

You are also starting to be more active and more talkative. You are now beginning to understand things that we tell you. When we say, "Aidan, it's clean-up time", you start gathering all your toys around you and putting them in your tupperware box. How daddy-like of you. You understood things in the past too, but now you get it right away. Before we would have to repeat one word several times for you to get it, but now we can say sentences and you get it. It's weird seeing how you develop. It's unreal sometimes.

Just the other day we were playing in mommy's room and you went over to our chaise lounge and you grabbed the PSP. Daddy's been playing it a lot lately and when you grabbed it you were pretending to play it like daddy does. It was crazy! Then yesterday, you were in bed with me and you suddenly raised your hands and slapped me on the face. Daddy was saying how you were just copying what I was doing to you. You see, I always playfully slap you on the face because you are just so cute. I'm not going to do that anymore!

I think you will talk (talk, meaning form sentences) soon. I'm trying to read to you every day and keep having conversations with you. It might sound like it's going to deaf ears, but then out-of-the blue I will get a reaction from you that just justifies everything.
