I can't believe my baby is starting kindergarten today… Time flies…
You were beyond excited to go to school today. I was packing your school bags over the weekend so you saw all the new stuff in your new bag. Plus, it would be the first time you wore your new Toy Story backpack that your Toronto grandparents bought you back in Spring.
Initially, I was supposed to work today, but I didn't want to miss your first day of school so I asked my boss if I could work from home. Daddy also took a day off from work because your school was only an hour today (for orientation). Daddy dropped off Kendall as per usual at her daycare while we let you sleep in and get ready for school. As soon as you woke up, you looked for your backpack because you have been waiting for today to come.

You wore your new backpack around the house all morning. It's bigger than you! |
Because the first day of school started at 11:15am today, you had to keep yourself entertained while mommy worked. I gave you a piece of paper and some stickers and you started stickering (is that even a word??) away.

Time to go to school!
It was a bit chilly today so we dressed you in long pants and a sweater. |
So excited to go… |
…until you bumped your head on the car door.
Poor baby! You cried so much. |
The excitement turned into sadness. |
We could have walked, but we drove to your school. |
We saw all the new junior kindergarten students walking to school with their parents. |
Daddy held your hand while you walked to the school. |
As we got to the school, there were a whole bunch of senior kindergarten students playing
in the fenced-in area. You were watching them so intently. |
The parents were starting to gather to drop off their kids. |
You wore your shark backpack that is your new daycare backpack too. |
Eagerly waiting for school to start. |
As the teacher came out to the fence to fetch each student, one-by-one, some students started
crying and you started wrapping your arm around mommy's thigh tighter and tighter.
I thought for sure you would start crying, but surprisingly you didn't.
When your teacher came to get you, you walked over to her and listened to everything she said.
I'm so proud of you! |
Look at you walking with the teacher. |
As all the students lined up to get ready to go in the school, I saw you were holding hands with one
of your new classmates. I'm not sure if your teacher told you to hold his hand, but it was so cute! |
The parents were to pick up their kids at 12:15pm today so I went to pick you up. There were
a few parents already there waiting for school to finish. |
This was a quick video (below) I took of you coming out of your kindergarten class. You looked more stunned than anything ;-) However, I think you enjoyed it.
You really liked your new school. Your teacher was super nice too. I hope that you will be good tomorrow as you start your new daycare. I am worried that you would be confused with all the different teachers that you will have.
