A to the power of 3

My friend, YJ, and I planned a play date today for me to go to her house. She has 2 sons- Asher (3 years and 2 months older than you) and Austin (2 years). It's been a while since you played with Asher so you were pretty shy at the beginning, but it didn't take long for you to warm up to him. You played so well together. YJ and I are thinking of meeting at least once a week, alternating between her house and mine so that you guys can play more often.

While we were there I was telling YJ that it's been a struggle getting you to be fully potty trained. I told her that we were taking you to the potty every hour, but that you weren't telling us when you had to go. It was always us (mommy and daddy) initiating it. YJ said that we would have to take off your diaper completely and let you experience a few accidents to realize your body signs when you have to go potty. She told me to take off your diaper right then and to keep you diaper-free while we were at her house. I was a little nervous because I didn't bring any change of clothes for you just in case you did the deed. YJ didn't seem to mind though. She said she had lots of Asher's clothes to put on you if you did indeed have an accident. Lo and behold you peed while you were riding Asher's toy car. YJ told me the trick was not to punish you, but to explain to you it was not a pleasant thing to wet yourself and that mommy would have to clean up. We put you in one of Asher's shorts. I explained to you that you were no longer wearing your clothes, but your friend Asher's and that if you peed again you would be wetting your friend's clothes. The second time you looked at me and held your crotch, but it was too late. You had already peed. However, YJ was telling me that it was a good sign that you were signalling me when you had to go. The third time you grabbed your crotch and whispered, "Pee." We rushed you to the washroom and you peed on the potty. It worked! Hallelujah! Now that I know that you are more than ready I'm going to be doing this diligently when you are home with me. YJ told me to go get you some underwear- something with his favourite characters (Asher had a Disney Cars one) and to get you a potty training seat that fits over the adult toilet seat.

Even when she was awake she didn't make a peep.

You are such a picky eater, but at Asher's house you devoured miyuk gook (seaweed soup) that YJ made. I guess it makes a difference when you see kids your age eating…
