TGIF

I can't believe August is over now. I'm really sad that summer will soon be over. It's so nice to get out of the house and do stuff and I know it'll just get harder once winter comes.

Today daddy decided to take us all to our local mall to get you new hockey skates. You are starting your skating lessons on September 22. Your skates that we bought you last year don't fit anymore. We are hoping this time around you won't act like a baby and will actually do the lessons that we paid for. I'm not sure if I talked about it last time, but last year when we took you to the skating lessons you threw a huge tantrum and wouldn't even put the skates on. We had to leave totally embarrassed and had to get a credit to get you to do the lessons this year.

This was your face when you came home from daycare today. I don't know what happened,
but you were sulking. You did, however, get a colouring/activity book from your friend
Trei (or Trei Trei as you call him). Your mood changed drastically once we got to the mall
and you realized you were getting new skates.

Look at the wall of skates.

You were so excited while we were waiting for your skates to be sharpened. You
pinkie swore to me that you were going to skate this year.

Mommy decided to take a picture wearing a Toronto Maple Leafs baseball cap. Here's to
hoping this year they will make the playoffs!
Baby Kendall, meanwhile, was sleeping most of the time in the Baby Bjorn.

We had a nice dinner at the food court, but you have a bad habit of not sitting still. It drives
 me nuts!

On another note, Kendall's skin is so bad. She is covered in baby acne and ddam ddi gi (heat
rash). If she looks like this on Sunday I'm not sure if we can take her to the wedding…

I want to bite those cheeks!

Aren't you just the sweetest thing? You are so chubby and cute and I can't get enough of you. However, your skin is horrible right now. You have a combination of baby acne and ddam ddi gi (skin rash due to sweating). It's not really reflecting that in this photo, but I'm really worried. Plus, we have my cousin's wedding to go to on Sunday and we need you to look your best. I'm dabbing your face with a warm cloth every morning and putting baby powder on your neck to reduce the rash, but it's not really getting better. I am putting a tiny bit of hydrocortisone on the areas of your face where it's really bad that it's getting crusty. That is helping a little. I just hope it gets better. I remember Aidan had baby acne, but looking back to the pictures I have it wasn't as bad as yours…

Tummy time

You are starting to be more alert during the day for longer periods of time. Whereas before, you would sleep almost all day you are now pretty awake for most of the day after 11am. That is good news and bad news for mommy because although that makes it a whole lot easier at night when you are supposed to sleep it makes it hard during the day because I can't do anything. As soon as I put you down you start crying and wanting to be held. Today I too the opportunity to take some shots of you posing for the camera and even took a video of you doing tummy time.

Look at those cute hands…

…And those scrumptious feet.

You trying to do tummy time. Your head is not so bobble head-like as when you were first
born, but you are barely able to lift your head up.

Studious boy

You have a whole stack of activity books that your Vancouver grandparents bought you from Korea. I decided to take them out and get you to start working on them. You were excellent at counting and matching shapes, but what you have to work on is holding the crayons and colouring. I don't think you are confident in using the crayon on your own, even though you bring him lots of crafts from daycare with your scribbles on it. I think in this way you are like your mom. You have such a ggom ggom han (Korean word for being neat) personality that you want everything to be perfect. I had to hold your own while holding the crayon so that I could colour the shapes perfectly.

Posers

I love taking these shots of you and Kendall together. Last time I took a photo like this, Kendall was a lot smaller.
It still continues to amaze me how you are totally not jealous of Kendall. When Kendall cries you turn to me and say, "Mommy, feed Kendall. She's hungry." And you constantly ask where Kendall is if you don't see her where you are. Kendall also has a tendency to cry when we put her down and when that happens you stop what you are doing and peer over her to try to console her. It's quite endearing.

Single mom for the day

Daddy left us for the whole day- again. He has all these sports tournaments and games that he just has to go to. I'm not happy about it, but I don't want him to be miserable and mope all day if he doesn't go so I just let him. This time it was a soccer tournament. He left early in the morning and said he should be back by 7 or 8, but he ended up having a game at 9:15pm. I was not happy. Luckily Auntie Sara came over in the afternoon and helped me take care of you guys. We actually had a pretty fun day. Kendall showed us how to fist pump (see video at the bottom) and you took us on a rocket ship. Kendall also learned how to suck on a pacifier for a whole 10 minutes!

Auntie Sara put Mr Potato Head's glasses over Kendall. Haha!

Look at Kendall sucking on a pacifier. She constantly wants to be held when she's awake so I put the pacifier
on her to just soothe her for a short while. This was my second attempt and it worked!

Daddy's little girl

With Aidan, when people told me that he looked like daddy I wouldn't see it, but with you I totally see daddy in you. You guys are twins. I think that's why I catch you in moments looking at daddy intently, just staring. Maybe you see a mirror reflection. One thing is for sure- daddy is totally head-over-heels in love with you. He always wants to hold you and kiss you. He also calls you his little princess. Aww…

1-month check-up

Today was your 1-month check-up appointment. I thought you would be getting your first shots, but that's in your next appointment (2-month check-up). I always get stressed when I have to go to the doctors because the waiting area is small and the check-up room is even smaller. I remember taking Aidan when he was younger and how I was a ball of sweat when I had to strip him down to get checked out. It was even more stressful on times when he had to get his shots. Later on, Aidan was smart enough to know that going to the doctors meant getting his vaccination shots so he would cry as soon as I started taking off his clothes.

Luckily this appointment was just to check your growth.

You are now 9lbs 1oz! Can you believe it? I knew you had grown A LOT, but I didn't know you leapt 2lbs from your last appointment. According to your doctor you are now in the 50th percentile- a lot better than the 15th percentile from before. You're also 50cm tall, a whole centimeter taller than your last appointment.

The only concern that the doctor had was that you are a bit on the yellow side. You passed your bilirubin test at the hospital, but I still see a little bit of yellow in your eyes and your face. Just to be on the safe side the doctor wants me to go to a pediatrician to get their opinion on it.

Aidan, the builder

Auntie Jessica came over today with baby Emma. She will be going back to work soon and so it was really great having a play date with her. She kept me company while I was taking care of baby Kendall and then when you came home from daycare she played with you in the basement. You have such a vivid imagination that you were playing a handy contractor/construction worker with your Home Depot get-up.

Afterwards you started playing chef by preparing foods for Auntie Jess. I made you pray for your pretend meal before you ate and I was pleasantly surprised that you had your own little prayer that you made up. What a sweet sweet boy you are.

Kendall's uniform

Daddy and I were watching TV after he put Aidan to sleep and while daddy was holding you he was commenting on your outfit- I put this green and white-striped baby Gap onesie that Auntie Jess gave to me as a hand-me-down after your bath. He grabbed the remote and turned the channel to a football match that was on TV at the time. One of the team that was playing was the Celtic FC and their uniform was the same green and white as your onesie. I laughed so hard!

Month-by-month- Month 1

Happy 1-month Kendall!
You make mommy so happy and I'm head over heels in love with you.

Wow, look at that double chin! You look exactly like daddy here.

Success!

Because we have a few weddings coming up in September I'm trying to train you to take a bottle just in case I can't be with you to breastfeed you. I tried last Thursday while I was at Pacific Mall, but that was unsuccessful. I think it's because the bottle nipple was too large. This time I tried a smaller nipple from the brand Gerbers. At first you kept spitting out the nipple, but eventually you got it and you drank the whole bottle! I'm so proud of you! I'm going to try bottle feeding you sporadically just to get you used to it. The only concern is that I'm not producing as much milk as when I had Aidan so it's hard to pump milk…

You eventually fell asleep while sucking on the bottle. Aigoo aigoo.

Every day is a milestone

It's really amazing how every day is a huge milestone for you. You are growing so fast that every day there is something new happening. Today I put the Oeuf bouncer seat in the basement and strapped you on. You sat in the seat for a good 15 minutes.

I think finally you have gotten your daytime/nighttime schedule all sorted out because you are sleeping MUCH better than before. You are more alert during the daytime now. Before you were sleeping almost all day, but now there are pockets of time during the day where you are fully awake and alert. That is a good thing!

Playtime at the Han's

Every Sunday I usually go to your Toronto grandparent's house while daddy goes to play soccer. Auntie Jess and baby Emma usually joins us there too because Uncle Wayne plays basketball on Sunday nights.
You love going over because as soon as I say to you, "Aidan, do you want to go to halmi and halbi's house?" you immediately say, "Yes!" and run to the door to put your shoes on.

Now that fall is coming it was great seeing you playing outside with Auntie Jess and baby Emma. You guys were running around playing tag. It really made my heart melt. I can't wait until Emma is old enough to run around and same with baby Kendall. We've truly been blessed with such wonderful kids and I really hope and pray that you guys will grow up being great friends :-)

Morning love

I took this photo this morning after the whole family woke up. Sorry for the fuzzy quality.
Doesn't this just melt your heart? I hope that this will be the love that you guys have for each other when you guys are older. I want us to be a family where we are overflowing in love.
