Big boy bed

With the arrival of baby Kendall looming there are so many things mommy and daddy have to do. One thing that was on our checklist was to get you a big kid bed. We need to convert your toddler bed back to a crib for Kendall so that's why we need to transition you into a new bed. Daddy and I have been looking for a new bed for you for a while now, but it's hard to find a bed that is a) low enough, b) big enough (we wanted at least a full/double size bed) and c) was affordable. There was a bed that we found at West Elm that was on sale a couple weeks back, but it was sold out by the time we got to the store so we were pretty bummed about it. Today we went to Ikea to look at some beds. We saw a few that we liked, but eventually narrowed it down to one.

Shown above is the Nyvoll bed in the Queen size. We got the full/double size. I believe the full/double was about
56" wide and the Queen is 63" wide? We got the light gray colour. We are lucky enough that your Toronto
grandparents are buying you the bed and the mattress. Mattresses aren't cheap!

To go with your bed we also want to get your the coordinating dresser. It's the 6-drawer dresser in light gray/white.
Your Vancouver grandparents are buying the dresser for you :-)
So I think we will go back and pick up the bed/mattress/dresser this weekend. I leave you with a video of you eating Ikea ice cream. I swear, it's one of the happiest places for kids because it's the most family-friendly store.

From chaos to sanity

It feels great to have our house back. It was extremely hard dealing with all the mess and the dust. Also, I hated not being able to cook. I had to go get left-overs from your Toronto grandma's house almost every single night. Either that or takeout. I didn't show you how our basement looked before so I'll show you how it looked before the reno. Different, right?

You seem to love the basement. At first you were a little confused because we moved all your toys downstairs, but I think you'll be fine. Here you are playing. I couldn't resist snapping a photo of you showing off your belly. Aigoo aigoo…

New playroom

Daddy moved all your toys down to the basement today as it was the Victoria Day long weekend and both of us didn't have to work. We brought you down while we were organizing some stuff and you were loving the new basement space. We still have to figure out if we like the placement of everything. I've got to say that having so much of your toys is making the space look less nice. We may have to bring a few of your toys back upstairs. In the meantime here's a sneak peek at your new playroom space.

I'm thinking of moving your Thomas the train set back upstairs because the space is feeling very cluttered.

The reason why we finished the basement was for you and Kendall, but both daddy and I still like having a beautiful,
uncluttered space and I'm feeling like it's looking very cluttered and busy at the moment.

Pregnancy scare

I was still spotting when I awoke this morning. I was pretty scared that the bleeding didn't stop so I knew I definitely had to go to the hospital. Yesterday, I actually called my hospital and they told me to come in to get myself checked out, but seeing that we had just finished our basement renos we had so much to do that I didn't end up going to the hospital. Daddy couldn't go with me because of you because who knows how long the checkup was going to take. On my way to the hospital I called Auntie Jess to tell her what was going on and she was sweet enough to meet me at the hospital to make sure I was ok. The closer I got to the hospital I started panicking. I had these dark thoughts in my head that something was terribly wrong because I didn't go get myself checked out the day before.

When I finally got to triage the nurse scolded me for not coming in and told me any bleeding was an emergency situation. Oh boy. Luckily the doctor did an ultrasound and baby Kendall was moving and had a healthy heartbeat. Phew! Next time this happens I'm definitely not going to take a chance. I think the bleeding was caused by exertion from all the cleaning I did from the basement renos. Now it's up to daddy to take the reigns and make sure mommy is well rested and taken care of before the due date.

Worried...

I woke up this morning with spotting. I'm 31 weeks pregnant now so I feel like I'm way too early to be in labour, but I remember with my first time the spotting was how my labour started. I'm still bleeding now. I plan on going to the hospital tomorrow morning just to get myself checked out. I hope bay Kendall is ok...

Saturday errands

The contractors finished the basement renovations early! They were supposed to finish on the 23rd, but they finished today. Woohoo!
While the contractors were working on the finishing touches today we stepped out to do a few errands- exchange 2 ceiling lights that were broken, buy a dehumidifier and check out a TV mount for our future TV in the basement. While we were at Best Buy we happened to be looking at some TV's and I noticed a few models had a camera that showed you and I on the screen. I pointed it out to you and that's why you are laughing in the photo above. You love seeing yourself on TV/camera.

Do you see us? This would be a great TV to have in the future for using Skype with your Vancouver grandparents.

Aidan zoomed in. Look how happy you are. Aigoo aigoo.

Such a drama king

While we were in Vancouver back in April you had a little accident while you were playing and you scraped your right leg and your left hand. However, being the drama king that you are you still show your leg/hand even though most of the boo boo have healed. You stick out your palm and make mommy kiss it and I have to always look so concerned because you act like it's really painful. Last Saturday morning you came into mommy's room and I noticed your face was a little blotchy. I was asking what happened to your face and that's when you started showing mommy all your battle scars. What a little drama king you are…

Best Mother's Day gift ever!

Today is my 2nd Mother's Day I'm celebrating. I always forget that it's a Mother's Day for me because I'm always thinking of my own mom and my mother-in-law. However, I got a pleasant surprise when you brought home a little gift that you made for me at daycare. I didn't realize it was your Mother's Day gift for me because it looked like many of your other art projects that you bring home from daycare. Daddy even threw it out at one point!
When I saw it in the trash box I took it out and opened the 'card'. I didn't even realize it was a card because it was shaped like a flower…

When I read what it said I almost teared up. It's the sweetest and most wonderful card that I have ever gotten
in my life. I'm going to cherish this moment forever!

On top of that you made a sweet bookmark for me with your favourite stickers. I know how much you love
Mickey Mouse and Cars so I know you picked these out just for me! Thanks for your wonderful gift and
making this Mother's Day oh-so-special.

Buying lights- Day 11 of basement renos

We are in full basement reno mode. We are now at day 11 and our house is a mess!
We checked out a lighting store near us- Prima Lighting to buy lights for the bathroom. We needed to get a fixture for above the mirror and then we got 2 sconces for when you first enter the basement. We ended up getting the 3-light fixture shown below. Daddy brought his measuring tape to make sure the width was good in relation to the vanity. Once you saw daddy measuring stuff you immediately started mimicking him by measuring the light fixtures yourself. How cute!

I can't wait until the basement is finished so our life can go back to normal.

Baby Kendall update

Just finished my 29-week check-up at the doctor's office for baby Kendall.
Mommy is now 136lbs and feeling pretty uncomfortable and heavy. However, I'm happy to say that the baby is doing extremely well. 2 weeks ago I did my gestational diabetes test and I passed with flying colours. And the doctors seem to think I'm doing beautifully well. I'm so thankful for that.

Today I spoke to the nurse about taking time off before I deliver and she was saying I should be feeling very uncomfortable and tired around the 36-week mark. She said that most people take time off around the 38-week mark. Little does she know that my boss wanted me to work until July 20- 1 day before I'm due! I'm going to see if I can take a week before I'm due, but I'm feeling extremely uncomfortable and tired. Ugh.

This sign says it all

If someone were to ask me how I would describe my family using one picture I would show them this photo. That's you, daddy, mommy (with baby Kendall) and our stroller.
