Special day

Today was a special day. Today was Rosco's 5th birthday- Happy birthday Rosco! and today also marked the baby turning 24 weeks (or 6 months).

Auntie Jessica called this morning to see if she could come over with Baby Emma because Uncle Wayne was working in our area. He was showing houses to his clients in our area. I'm always happy when I get to hang out with my sister because it's very hard seeing each other when I work full-time and we live so far away. I also want you being exposed to babies so that you get used to it when you're little sister comes in July.

We had a fun-filled day where baby Emma and you played in your playroom and we even took a walk (which you enjoyed very much). We eventually ended up in the park and you had a blast going on the swing. That's a picture of you in the swing. You didn't want to come out so Auntie Jess and I had to push you for 20 minutes! That's baby Emma sleeping in her stroller behind you. I'm pleased to say that you were so good to Emma and I'm confident that you will make an excellent older brother.

So so tired

Mommy worked from home today. I let you sleep in in the morning a bit, but that caused you to not take your usual nap time at daycare. Daycare normally sets the nap time around 12:30pm, but I saw on your chart that you "rested" instead of napped. By the time I picked you up in the afternoon you looked pretty tired.
Daddy and I had planned on going to Costco to pick up some necessities, but while you and I were waiting for him to come home you climbed onto mommy's belly and conked out. This never happens because you never sleep without a fight so I was pretty surprised. You must've been very tired. When daddy finally came home around 6:30pm you were still sleeping (with a pool of drool all over mommy's shirt) so we let you sleep a little longer. At one point you turned over 180 degrees. It was quite a sight.

After an hour of sleep daddy finally woke you up and this was your sleepy face after the nap (see below). Aigoo, aigoo.

Mommy and Aidan day

Mommy took a day off today to take you to your 2nd dentist appointment. Daddy took you the first time a few months ago. I was so nervous because I honestly didn't know what to expect. I knew that I did everything I was supposed to do since your last appointment- brushing your teeth at least 2 times a day with fluoride toothpaste and flossing. However, I didn't know how you would react going to the dentist. I know how much you hate going to your doctor. Well, I had nothing to worry about. You were an absolute dream.

We take you to a special children's dentist so everyone was super nice and the office was so child-friendly. The dentist was so gentle and had me holding you facing me and then got me to lean you back to rest your head on the dentist's lap (with a pillow underneath your head). You were totally comfortable with that. She even asked you to open your mouth and you did! I guess all those daily teeth brushings where I got you to say 'ahhhhh' payed off. She was able to check all your teeth and I found out that your bottom molars are coming out (yay!) and your teeth are in good shape. She kept saying how good you were and she even cleaned your teeth and polished them with fluoride. I was so proud of you. I wish I thought to take some pictures of you getting the check-up. Next time!

Afterwards the dentist gave you a bag full of goodies- a new Toy Story toothpaste, a Winnie the Pooh toothbrush, a Toy Story floss and a ball. You were so pleased that you held so tightly onto that bag for the whole day. In the reception room the receptionist got you to pose beside the giraffe (see above) and you even said, "Cheese!" She promised that your picture would be up on their digital picture frame the next time you are due for your appointment.

I was thinking of treating you to breakfast at Sunset Grill after your appointment, but the dentist told me to hold off on giving you food until after half an hour (because of the fluoride on your teeth). I decided to drive to your Toronto grandparent's café instead. We weren't able to see them on Sunday so this was a perfect opportunity. Plus, you love hanging out with them. We spent the whole morning hanging out at the café and having breakfast. Here's a picture of you saying "Cheese" for the camera. What a sweetie you are.

Beautiful Sunday

We've been having an exceptionally warm winter. Although Spring doesn't officially start until this week it's been so mild and nice lately. Today it went up to 19 degrees. We wore t-shirts and just the sun shining down on us put us in a better mood.

Daddy's been really sick lately with an awful cold and a terrible cough. I just hope it isn't something serious. He couldn't sleep all that well last night because he had a stuffy nose and he was coughing all night long. Mommy didn't sleep much either. You woke up several times crying in the middle of the night and it took a really long time for you to finally fall back asleep. We both couldn't wake up this morning to make it to church. I really feel like Satan always finds a way to prevent us from going to church every Sunday.
Anyways, when we eventually woke up the beautiful Spring weather couldn't keep us indoors. We went to Cora's to have brunch and then we had a nice drive back home with the sunroof open. We sang to the radio and danced in the car. It was just one of those magical days.

Mommy and you visited your Toronto grandparents late afternoon and we were lucky that Auntie Jessica, Uncle Wayne and baby Emma were there too. Emma is growing into such a cutie! You were really pleasant to her and at one point you kissed her on the lips! It was the sweetest thing. You even tickled her feet to make her laugh. I think you'll make one great brother.

Smooch!
Here's a video of you playing in your grandparent's backyard. Look how happy you are.

Beautiful Spring weather

What a beautiful Spring day. The weather went up to a mind boggling 19 degrees!
We've been having an exceptionally mild winter and today was such a treat.
Mommy is down with a terrible cold, but I wanted to take advantage of the beautiful weather outside. You and I went over to your Toronto grandparents' house in the afternoon and while we were waiting for them to come home from church we played outside. We jumped in the front yard, watched airplanes go by and basked in the sun. I don't ever want this day to end…

My favourite time of day

I know it's cruel to be saying this, but I love when you nap. Daddy and I can take a breather and just relax for once. You've been waking up super early these days- around 6:30am to 7:00am because I think you're so used to your 6:20am wake-up time during the weekdays. By the time it's noon the whole family is exhausted.
Today we went to a nearby mall to buy you some clothes. Although you're 2.5 you're still wearing a lot of 18-24 month clothes. However, now it's getting a bit tight on you. We decided to pick up a few 3T clothing for you to wear to daycare. We didn't want to buy too much because we're going to Vancouver next month and we plan on going outlet shopping in Seattle.
You normally squirm when you're in your stroller, but today you must have been exhausted. By the time we finished buying you clothes you were out cold. Daddy and I took that time to buy some ice cream for ourselves and just stroll around the mall. You slept a good hour and a bit.
