Prince Aidan

Dear Aidan,

So the lack of posts right now is due to the fact that your grandparents from Vancouver are here visiting right now.
Let me just say that they are CRAZY about you. Yesterday they took you to the mall and bought you so many toys and clothes. Mommy has been letting grandma and grandpa spend more time with you as they don't see you that often. I think now you like them more than me now! So far grandma has taught you how to stand, clap your hands together, crawl onto different levels, and put out your arms when someone wants to hold you. I think now she's trying to teach you how to say 'um-ma' (mommy in Korean), 'appah' (daddy), 'hal-mo-nee' (grandma), and 'hal-ah-bo-ji' (grandpa). I feel kind of guilty because I do a lot of stuff around the house when I'm alone with you. I sometimes just leave you in the playpen by yourself for a few hours so mommy can have some mommy time. I know I need that, but I think I have to play more with you. It's amazing how much you learned from grandma in just a few days. Today while mommy was taking grandpa to the nursery store he was telling me how him and grandma feel really bad towards Dennis and Jane (your aunt) because he feels like they didn't spend a lot of quality time with them. He was stressing to me the importance of family. And you know what? He's right.

Well, I took a few videos of grandma and grandpa playing with you so when I have time I will upload it here.

Aidan's squinty eyes

Dear Aidan,

So I got a video of you doing the squinty eyes! Yes! I mentioned in a previous post that I would love to get this on film because it's so cute and I finally did it. You seem to do it when you are tired now. You actually do several things when you are tired- you do the squinty eyes, you tug at your ears, you scratch the back of your head, you rub your eyes, or you rub your face onto mommy/daddy's chest.

Anyways, here is the video:

So right after I captured this on film, guess what you did? You slept! You are actually taking a nap now. That means it's happy time for mommy ^_^.

So tonight daddy's parents are coming to Toronto. They are staying here for a little over 1 week so I'm not sure if I can post that much up while they are here. I'll probably be spending lots of time with them during the day. I spoke to daddy's mom this morning and she is so excited to see you. Please be on your best behavior when they are here.

Could this be daddy Dennis?

Dear Aidan,

Daddy is going to kill me when I post this, but I couldn't resist!
When I saw this clip on YouTube I immediately thought of daddy.

Enjoy!

A new day

Dear Aidan,

So after the nightmare of a day yesterday I'm trying to start fresh. Although you woke up at 6:30am crying in your bed. Daddy had to wake up and get you. You ended up sleeping in our bed for the rest of the morning.

Anyways, here's a video of you waking up in your lowered crib yesterday morning.

Annoyed

Dear Aidan,

Today mommy is annoyed at everyone. I don't even feel like posting anything right now. It literally took me from 2 1/2 hours to put you to bed.
Great... You just woke up again. Actually, false alarm, but I am just so tired of all the repetition. Today was one of the 'hard' days.
Oh no, you are crying now AGAIN. I must go.

Daddy's turn!

Dear Aidan,

Happy Valentines Day!
So mommy has been glued to the TV ever since the Olympics have started on Friday. Today was especially exciting because Canada won it's first gold medal in 33 years on home turf. You and I were both cheering on Alexandre Bilodeau and we were so happy when he won.
It's obvious that you didn't seem to like the food all that much. But, yay for daddy that he is trying to help me out with the feedings. And let's see... mommy and daddy had to lower your crib mattress to the lowest position because after you woke from your nap yesterday daddy saw you trying to raise yourself out of the crib. The manual for the crib said that once you are able to hoist yourself up to a standing position from the crib we have to lower the mattress. I'm so happy for you that you have reached another milestone, but it is getting more and more difficult to keep up with you.
And let's see... you've started doing quite a few different things lately. One thing you started doing is squinting your eyes when you are tired. It's really cute. I would love to capture it on film, but I'm not sure if that's possible. You get pretty camera shy. Another thing you've been doing is talking. I'm not talking about actually pronouncing words, but you blab a lot. And I mean A LOT. I find that you do it when you are tired or in a playful mood. I'm trying to make you say 'Um-ma' (it means mommy in Korean) and 'Appah' (it means daddy in Korean), but so far nothing. Oh well. It will happen soon enough.

Go Canada Go!

Dear Aidan,

Although you will be too young to remember it's a very exciting time to be a Canadian right now. Vancouver, where your paternal grandparents live, is hosting the 2010 Olympics. Tonight will be the opening ceremony. I would die to be in Vancouver right now.
I thought it would be neat to dress you up in your Olympics outfit for tonight's celebration. You are wearing a onesie with Quatchi playing ice hockey. I think Auntie Jane sent this to you from Vancouver. So cute!

See how the mascots came to be:

Perfect capture

Dear Aidan,

So now that you are so active it is really difficult for mommy to take photos of you smiling/laughing. I was lucky yesterday that I was able to capture such a great picture of you. Whoopee!
What I have been doing is updating some of the photo frames around our house with more recent photos of you. To be honest I used to think you were pretty cute when you were smaller, but now when I see those photos of you you aren't as cute as you are now.

BTW, guess what tomorrow is? It's the official start of the Vancouver Olympics. I've been looking forward to it for so long. I'm so happy that I'm on mat leave so I can follow all the events. Yessssss!

Aidan playing with Rufus the bear

Dear Aidan,

Here's a video of you playing with Rufus in your room. I think that's what daddy named the bear...
Anyways, I can't believe how CUTE you are! I'm not just saying that because you're my son. I think you are so adorable. Your expressions are so cute and you seem like such a gentle child.

Sorry for the lack of posts

Dear Aidan,

It's been a tough few days for both mommy and daddy. I was too exhausted to post anything up. Let's see... after that scare on Saturday it was followed by a busy Sunday with church and meeting up with dad's friend, Do Yoon. We had lunch with him and then he came over for a few hours. Then afterwards it was the Superbowl (btw, New Orleans won) so mommy was cooking some grubs to eat while we watched football. Yesterday was really tiring for both mommy and daddy because you have been sleeping really early (around 8pm) so you end up waking up really early. It was tough again today too as you woke up pretty early as well.

I put you to sleep at 10:30pm today so hopefully you will wake up a little later tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed!

The photo above is of you and Asher playing on the foam pad at church. You really wanted Asher's toy (seen in the photo), but I wouldn't let you touch it as he was sick. I didn't want you to catch any germs. You guys were so cute playing together on Sunday.

Almost a tragic day

Dear Aidan,

So today was like any other day. You woke up at 7am and we had to put you in our bed. Then you woke up at 10am and started slapping our faces and rolling all around our bed. It was crazy! Then mommy and daddy ran errands in the morning and we came back home pooped. When we came home daddy put you on our bed for a second and in that short second you crawled to the edge of the bed and fell off! I was fixing the blinds while this was happening so I didn't know anything until I saw you fall off the bed. You were crying so hard and I was afraid that you suffered a concussion or something like that. I'm still too shocked and traumatized. Luckily you were ok, but it just goes to show you that now we have to be extra careful with you. You are just too active these days. I'm terrified that you may roll off the change table so now I change you on the ground.
I think daddy was pretty shaken up. He was in a daze all afternoon.

Hilarious!

Dear Aidan,

This is my 2nd post for today. There's this commercial that's been airing on TV lately and I always laugh aloud when I watch it. I think moms and dads of little boys will totally understand when they watch this commercial.
You are also guilty of doing this. You've done it a couple of times at the doctors office and numerous times with mommy and daddy. I just love the little boy's expression after the dad opens his diaper. Priceless!

Aidan & JP

Dear Aidan,

Here are a few photos of you and JP when he came over last Friday. JP is 2 weeks younger than you. JP's mom, Melissa, goes to Auntie Jess and Auntie Sara's church. Mel and JP came over with Liz. Liz is the one who took these lovely photos.

Below is a photo of Mel holding you while in the background I'm holding JP.

Also, here is a video of you playing today on your playspot while sitting up. You were so cute! Now that you can sit up you are able to entertain yourself longer without crying and getting cranky. That makes me soooooo happy!

Sitting pretty

Dear Aidan,

So you have mastered the art of sitting! You did it yesterday and you've been doing it all day today. You started sitting a while ago, but you sometimes toppled over and you didn't sit upright for long. You usually ended up lowering your head to your toes. But now, you are able to sit upright on your own and although you are still a little wobbly you don't fall over. Plus, you transition very nicely from your belly to your sitting position in one smooth move and vice versa. I was able to show daddy when he got home last night and today we showed your maternal grandparents and Auntie Sara when we went over to visit them. They were all so excited for you. I actually have a video tape of you doing it this morning, but it's getting late so I'll upload it tomorrow.

*Update*
Here's the video that I said I will upload:

Here's a photo of you and Rosco posing last night:

Photoshoot with mommy

Dear Aidan,

You just love it when mommy takes photos with you from the computer. I think you like that I'm in the photo with you. We had so much fun taking fun photos together today. Although the quality is really bad, much worse than the DSLR, it's a lot easier for me to take the photos from the computer.

So yesterday mommy called a daycare that I had put you on the waiting list for and they said that we had to make a deposit to reserve you a spot. I know the day when mommy goes back to work is coming closer- July 19 to be exact. I can't believe how quickly time had passed. I'm also going to look into the nanny option too. I just want to get you the best care possible.

5 things

Dear Aidan,

Here are 5 things that happened today:

You woke up at 8am screaming/crying. Mommy was very unhappy because she hardly got any sleep the day before.

You took a really long nap in the afternoon. Probably because you hardly slept either?!

You took a huge dump while in your playard.

You had your first oatmeal today. You actually liked the taste. So far, you've had rice cereal (which you like), barley (which you hate), and oatmeal.

You are now molesting Sophie. You just absolutely love her. You are scraping her legs against your teeth. I think it soothes you.

Here's you trying to grab mommy's camera:
